Yeah,  I seriously reckon my answer was better.  I wrote:

"Species X belongs to the group that sheds its leaves.  This is evident because as the winter months approach, chlorophyll a and b levels decrease, indicating a decrease in the rate of photosynthesis.  A decrease in the rate of photosynthesis would be characterised by leaf shedding."

By no means perfect, but at least it gives a reason and has some logic behind it. Their answer doesn't explain shit.  No wonder why A+ cut offs are so low for Biology.

And they don't make it very clear that it refers to the leaves.  Sneaking it in there at the very start!

There was a funnier one where the nextdoor neighbour was a better match for some organ transport than the mother father and brother
Lmao exactly what I thought but the nextdoor neighbour could have been the person's twin ;)
Where's all the biology students on this forum? lol. Chemistry forum is flooded with threads, but biology is sort of deserted :P
Biology students are too cool 8)
Guess because it's pretty straightforward subject.
Can anyone help me find a reason why a carbohydrate isn't a large molecule of a monosaccharide? Check 2007 VCAA assessment report- page 7, question 6.a.

I can't remember it exactly, but I think you have to say polysaccharide.

Probably not specific enough.  I think complex carbohydrate would suffice though.

Just remember that in Bio it is really important to be specific.  Being too general will cost you marks here and there.

Another example of this was a question to which the answer was T-helper cell.  I just said T-lymphocyte and didn't get the mark.  You really need to be precise with terminology.  It sucks because you know the answer but because you used the wrong word or left out a word, you don't get the credit for it. :(

Carbohydrates refer to either monomers such as glucose or polymers such as glycogen. That's why you have simple and complex carbohydrates. Polysaccharides is more correct.

Hey everyone again
Have a look at question 5. b)
http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/studies/biology/pastexams/2008/2008biol1-web.pdf
And the assessment report: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/studies/biology/asessreports/2008/biology_assessrep_june08.pdf
Why do we only mention cell mediated immunity? Apparently those who also explained the humoral response along with the cell mediated didnt get any marks :S But the question didn't specifically say you had to answer it related to cell-mediated immunity!
I mentioned that the T-helper cells stimulate the B-cells to produce plasma cells and memory cells....
Hope what I said makes sense :S

140/150, which I guess is an ok result. Lost all of my marks with stupid reading errors and on q7, which I feel like I should have done better on.
