You can have L-L-L
                   L-L-P
                   L-P-L
                   P-L-L

Ambiguous question however.

lol, how many people have done a tssm paper (ans: not many)

I might do it in a few hours just to see what all the fuss (or lack thereof) is about.

I think you should post the question so that people who haven't done it can help too.

Question 19
A sample of leucine is added to proline and heated. A series of peptide molecules are formed from
the reaction.
The number of different dipeptide molecules possible in the mixture is?

Now since its a sample of leucine you can say that there is multiple L's which is why they are right.

Leu - Pro

Where did L L L come from? 'Dipeptide' means only two combinations :s

Does factorial of the number of amino acids give the number of different combinations?

Except in cases like this, where you can have the same amino acid bonding together. In this case you use .

This only works when you are finding di-peptides, I am fairly sure.

EDIT:
Sure does I posted this somewhere.

4 different amino acids will have

abcd
abdc
acbd
acdb
adbc
adcb
bacd
..
..
..

EDIT: I've just had a mental blank, I'm not sure about any of this...

Except in cases like this, where you can have the same amino acid bonding together. In this case you use n2=22 = 4.

I see, thanks m@tty :)

Same.. in n^2

For different, u use n factorial
