I really cbf studying for chem.  I've done so much, it has become rediculous.  Might do VCAA 07, have a look over some notes and that is about it.  It's too late to do anything now tbh.

And in general, as I've just realised, stupid mistakes will hurt you more than not knowing the content.  Personally, i think 90% knowledge of the content plus being relaxed in the exam is better than knowing every little detail, of many which are pointless, and burning out or stressing and losing marks on basic shit.

@ transcendent: sweet, i'll do it sometime over the next week :)

Haha, big weekend planned!  I am also looking forward to relaxing in the GAT lol...

Anyway, so do people think the A+ cut off will drop?

I'm hoping to have lost no more than 6 marks.  Pretty sure I lost 1-2 in multi choice, depending on the question I completely mis interpreted with the cells with the different receptors.  If anyone can confirm if the answer was or wasn't option B. Cell S, that would be great.

But yeah, I'm pretty happy with short answer, I think.  The wait is going to kill me however.  Can you pre-order a statement of marks, or do you have to wait until after results are released and then do it?  :D

definitely. Maybe the A+ cutoff will be 75%? hopefully lower

guys, pretty sure that molecule sticking out of the cell membrane not attached to a protein was cholesterol. I described the hexagonagol structure to my sister doing biology and chem in 2nd year uni and she said it was cholesterol.

how do you know? i thought glycolipids had to be attached to protein molecules in the membrane, and this wasn't attached to anything

It has to be a glycolipid. For what we have learn't cholesterol has a completly different structure embedded in the membrane to maintain stability and fluidity. Glycoprotein (cell markers) and glycolipid are supended from the membrane from memory.

Check this out:

Which is why I think that cholesterol is the better answer, because it doesn't have to be attached to a protein molecule in the membrane.
Yeah we're talking about the same q.
