Maybe you guys are right. the molecule was sticking out, it was just the hexagons that put me off.. confusing.

Which is why I think that cholesterol is the better answer, because it doesn't have to be attached to a protein molecule in the membrane.
Yeah we're talking about the same q.

It is attached to a lipid. I need to see the exam again. Please someone post it up

Yeah, we really need to look at all the diagrams again to be sure.. did anyone take the exam out? I remember last year people emerged from their rooms with the papers, surely it's just a matter of time.

sorry to go back to it but for the laundry powder question (such a bad question, i didn't study on washing machines) didn't one of the options have a slightly higher ph? like 9ish? i chose that one as i went with the theory that laundry detergent/soap = alkaline...
more chemistry crap and yeah i can't remember the question all that well.
so much longer than last years, i finished last years with half an hour spare, had 4 minutes left over on this to look over M.C -.-

Yeah I think I chose the 40 degree, highish pH one, because soap is alkaline... but a few of them had high pHs. The temperature was near-impossible to know unless you ever stick your hand inside a washing machine when it's going or are involved in the production process >_<

if you do order them ..do you get them before august 2nd when all the results are released??
when do you get them?

Last year i ordered mine after i got my results, so i got them a month or two later. Although one of my friends ordered his before the exam, and i believe he got his numerical mark a week or two after getting his letter mark at school.

They cant expect you to know too much chemistry

I believe it was glycolipid:
"
Edit: I just remembered!
The two answers i narrowed it down to were glycolipid and globular protein.

Globular proteins tend to be well... like globs of protein.. many chains like heaped into each other but this was like 1 straight protein going straight up"

Cholesterol doesnt "stick out" of the cell membrane and even if it does... it wouldnt look like a saccharide molecule like this one did (it had like a chain or square or hexagons... how ever they represent it)

I went home, collapsed in bed and cried like a little bitch. x__x
My own fault though. Cramming the night before and turning up with less than 2 hours sleep is pretty stupid.

IMO, hardest exam in the study design to date for unit 3.  Hopefully Unit 4 exam will be easier...

sorry teabagger,  VCAA really are assholes.  Where that exam came from...  VCAA are usually notorious for having easy Bio exams...
