You can use pencil for the multiple choice, so i think pacer might work.

Use pen for the rest of the exam.

Apparently you can, probably better to use a darker pencil for example 2B, so it shows up clearly when scanned.

I wouldn't risk writing in pencil - the exams usually have enough space so that you can cross out any mistakes with one single line, and if everyone else is writing in pen I don't want examiners straining their eyes to see a scanned copy of my exam.

You can write in pencil. I wrote in pencil for all my exams except Psych short answer and English (frankly because writing long theoretical explanations in pencil is painful as opposed to pens) :)

And dw, appianway, it won't come up as a 'scanned copy' if you use a nice sharp pacer :)

I had a bio examiner lecture us for bio revision, he was like think about it:
*The examiners are teachers
*So, they work during the day
*They mark at night, when its dark and theyre tired

Do you really want to make them squint at your pencil or smudged pencil when theyre tired and kinda cranky?

Yeah - don't use gray lead pencils in exams. Instead, use sharp 0.5 mm pacers. As you can see I'm a huge fan of pacers. =D
