The funny thing is I think at my school more people do Enviro than Physics.

Your school offers all the good subjects that I wish my school offered.
Can you believe we couldn't even run an economics class thanks to low numbers.
We are the epitome of Health/Business Management/ Food Technology at my school.
And nobody is qualified to teach English Language.

Melbourne Grammar.  We're renowned for having an absurdly large Enviro cohort (along with Latin...lol).
Yet we don't even have it offered at my school, sadly :( Although I'm looking forward to taking it for second semester this year (as a year 10 subject). About how many people take Enviro 3/4 each year in Victoria?

It's probably one of those weird subjects hardly any schools offer, sort of like latvian or italian history (well at least not at my school but hey... we dont have international politics either or philosophy... which i so wanted to do)

We don't have philosophy either... what do you do in enviro science? Is it a sort of a cross between chem and physics?

It's not really a science. It's more of environmental studies because there isn't that much science involved. The first semester we look at energy, types of renewable and non-renewable energy sources, the natural and enhanced greenhouse effect and action taken to reduce impacts of the enhanced greenhouse effects. We also study biodiversity, its importance, ways of measuring biodiversity and policies/strategies in place to keep biodiversity levels stable.

Second semester we study pollution and then our second topic is about companies continuing in a sustainable manner. Only just started unit 4 so I don't know much.

i love this subject! it's easy to understand, and quite relevant to today, given all the fuss about global warming and such.

it's a good subject to do in year 11. :)

Except you're getting a tree hugging view point jammed down your throat.

That said, I would do this subject if I could next year... simple because of how easy it looks.

Yay for old threads. =)

Small cohort turns a seemingly easy subject into a scavenge for marks to reach over 45.
