English Commentary on an Expository Piece?

Hey guys,

We have an English SAC coming up on creating and presenting, with a written explanation required. My teacher seems to think that the commentary has the ability to vastly lift or drop your grade, so I'd like to get it right. I was wondering what sort of things you would put in an expository commentary? Many of the "suggested criteria" we've been given seem geared solely to creative/imaginative writing, which I suppose is fair enough. I would have thought expository/persuasive responses would largely be self-explanatory. Any ideas as to what kind of things the markers would be looking for in the accompanying commentary to an expository response?
