I put equal amount of effort and time into each subject (1/2 and 3/4) until the last month before exams, which is when i put everything into my 3/4

Sort of this.  I did all the required homework in every subject (well, except General Maths Advanced, but that's sort of the same as me right now for Spesh...), including 1/2s.  However, before SACs I'd do a lot of practice SACs/essays, and before the exams it was basically hardcore practice exam-ing it up.  I still worked for my 1/2 exams as well though (though not as much as I worked for my year 9/10 exams, haha).

For methods, I did at least half an hour everyday, then like the others crammed alot of practice exams.  Looking at your subjects, I'd say don't neglect latin or chem unless you are good at chem. :). The rest you can skim over if you really want to prepare for Accounting :D.

Yeh, I'm trying to do the same... trying to fit 15-20 mins of Accounting per night on top of other school work!

Thanks. :)

I basically balanced it with 1/2 subs basically until unit 3.

Then i realised accounting was way more important and needed to be prioritised.

Outcome: Mid year: A  End of Year: high A+
2009: Accounting
2010: English | Methods (CAS) | Specialist Maths | Chemistry | Chinese SL
2011: Bachelor of Commerce/Engineering @ Monash

I'm on the same train of thought... but yeh, I'm still managing to get my 1/2 subjects done (like homework and assignments), but I find that I tend to focus more of my attention on Accounting.

In a sense, I think having a balance between 1/2 and 3/4 subject(s) is good... because that's what happens next year (aka Year 12) though... with 5 other subjects, not just one.

[good job, btw. lol, I'm hoping for around 40 or possibly higher for Accounting. :)]

Haha yeah just work hard for end of year exam, i felt like giving up, but didnt wanna waste the subject so i did basically no study for unit 2 exams.

But yeah 40 isnt hard to get if you are willing to put the effort in and understand the work. Good luck!

I'd say the same - with a decent amount of effort, you should be able to attain 40+
Raw Scores:
Psychology 50 | Mathematical Methods 49 | Further Mathematics 49 | Accounting 49 | Chemistry 44 | English 43
ATAR: 99.75

You're overthinking it, just do what you need to do for each subject. Obviously, don't compromise a 3/4 for something that's insignificant, but that doesn't mean you need to neglect them entirely. That said, when I was in year 11 I prioritized sleeping and watching TV over my 1/2s and I didn't even have a 3/4, so you might be better off not taking my advice.

Try to at least stay above water in your 1/2s. Remember, they're the foundation for *five* 3/4s next year.

I personally study really hard on weekends for 3/4s and do 1/2 work during the week-as well as brushing up 3/4 work. I don't usually like to stick to numbers, but I go 30% each 3/4 and 10% each 1/2. In your case I would go 50% on Accounting, and the rest on your 1/2s. You should be looking at doing a minimum of 2hours a week on each 1/2. Also take advantage of getting ahead with 1/2s when you don't have have much homework for 3/4 or you don't have any sacs in the near future-that way you can get ahead and improve your 1/2 marks, as usually I am pretty apathetic to studying for 1/2 tests or sacs when I have a Latin SAC and a Methods SAC on the same day! :)

Unfortunately, I somewhat lacked the knowledge of how important methods 3+4 was towards my ATAR (in year 11), I spent the bare minimum of time to study for SACs (maximum 1 hr per SAC), and about 2 days for the exam and yes it is reflected by my SS :(. However I did really well on all my year 11 exams at the end of the year and now I realise how pointless that was :P

LOL. from what I've read on VN, doing well on my 3/4 subject in Year 11 is important... that's why I put most of my effort/time into Accounting rather than my 1/2's... maybe a bit too much... :P
