Can you live on campus?

You know how in american movies, all the people live at the uni? they have parties and stuff in each others rooms

I was wondering if you could live at melbourne uni or something, as the only reason stopping me from going to UoM is because its a far travel from home, and would be a betch to travel on a daily basis.

Also how much would it cost?

You can live on campus, yes. There are various residential colleges, check the website for details on each specific college.

It is fairly expensive though (also don't expect it to be constant parties, running through the corridors drinking etc.)

There will be parties but it won't be anything like the glamour filled, hollywood interpretation.

eg) Janet Clarke Hall (a UoM college) doesn't allow more than 3 students in rooms because it constitutes an "unauthorized party"

Really? They have a similar policy to that at the college I go to but it's not enforced in the slightest (and there'd be massive uproar if it were).

College is what you make of it. And for plenty of people, that's sex, drugs, and fun.

Well in year 12, you pick 2 out of the following 3; enough sleep, social life, good grades

Is college the same? Or can you have all 3

It's similar. Depends on your course and on you.

Really? They have a similar policy to that at the college I go to but it's not enforced in the slightest (and there'd be massive uproar if it were).

Yeah, this, but the point is it's not just a party house. JCH is pretty small though, that might have something to do with it.

:(

so true:( college life in america is not the same anywhere else in the world.. the usa colleges are all about extra curriculas, clubs, socialising, etc (high school shares similarities there too, whereas our emphasis is on academics )

College is more crazy than off-camus, but not really like the movies.
