someone said that if you graduate from latrobe pharmacy its hard to get recognised and get a job easily.....is that true? cos i heard that australia is in need of pharmacists :S
Nah, doesn't really matter which uni you went to for pharmacy. If you're a good pharmacist then they'll see that and take you in. It's just the structure of the course that is different and the networks you form. Monash also has more alumni out there so I guess it's easier to 'relate' to them in a job interview or what not. But yeah, Monash pharm gets LaTrobe pharm students transferring across. I think it's mainly just a location issue, and not so the ability to land a job.

^and hahaha yeah female dominated course.
how exactly can you transfer from la trobe to monash, and is it difficult?

matt says 95-97 , and mystikal 88+

I believe its 93+ get you into monash infact.

No i meant 88+ given that the person has a high UMAT(88 is like the lowest xtreme balanced with the UMAT of the highest extreme) balanaced with it or other factors such as SEAS and reranking prereqs

And i do agree with you 93+, but i have stated between 92-97 is for normal pharmacy degree given that the UMAT score is pretty average (if the 3 add up to 160+ as it was stated for last years some of my friends had 96 enters and only 48 over percentiles for UMAT)

Are you sure those were percentiles and not overall scores? The overall score for the three adding up to 160 is 53, and that's probably around 70-80 percentile (correct me if I'm wrong, cbf checking the graph). 48 percentile doesn't sound right. Pretty sure they won't let you in with a UMAT that low unless you've got SEAS or something.
At a Monash Pharmacy seminar I went to, they said a raw score of 160 for the UMAT is the minimum requirement to get in, but who knows what the reality is!
EDIT: Oh wait nevermind you were correcting someone that said percentile instead of raw scores :P

The transfer process maybe ok however, you can only transfer half your subjects because la trobe do different subjects. So despite finish 1st year pharmacy at La Trobe you could only transfer half your credits to monash so therefore it means you can only do some 2nd year subjects at Monash and have to do some 1st year subjects as well so you wont graduate at the same time as your fellow 2nd year students.

Just to notify:

http://www.rmit.edu.au/browse/Our%20Organisation/Science%20Engineering%20and%20Health/Schools/Medical%20Sciences/Programs%20and%20Courses/Pharmacy%20at%20RMIT/;ID=tpt99f5rw6wt1;STATUS=A?QRY=pharmacy&STYPE=LOCATION

There will be 2011 Entry For pharmacy With NO UMAT.

During year 12 it never entered my mind to do a health related course so i did NOT do the UMAT, Biology or chemistry. However after realizing i cannot become a doctor, dentist etc...(probably end with an enter score just above 90) I am now interested in pharmacy after talking to a few people. I have done English, Physics and Methods so i satisfy the prequisites, however i would need to travel 1 hour and 20 mins each way to get to the campus. So i have a couple questions

1: What are you guys predicting the minimum atar score to be?

2: How many days a week do you need to go to university for?

3: Is there anything i am missing here?

Thanks

- 85+ , they are only accepting 40 people
-full-time?
-i think your missing chem..

There is a day 8 December where they are inviting student's to come and check out the facilities. They also sent a document sheet for people who are interested in pharmacy to fill, if you gave them your email, they should have sent it to you.

Yeah you'd need to repeat and take chem in order to apply to Monash. Some interstate unis may accept you without chem, but you'll still have to sit the umat.

Other option is graduate medicine, but that's a whole other discussion
