as far as i know, at VCE you can get alternate exam arrangements, where you need to be allowed to take certain materials into the exam/have a specific request.

or, if you have a serious event that causes you to do badly, you can get a derived exam score (turns out sleeping through the GAT was a bad idea)

in both cases you'll need to apply to the VCAA, with the support of the school

Isn't it for uni courses? As in you can get into a course with a lower enter score
2009: Texts & Traditions (28)
2010: English (45), Chemistry (40), Methods CAS (43), Specialist Maths (42)
ATAR: 98.40

SEAS is for Uni applications I think.
For special considerations I think you can apply for extra exam time and breaks during the exam. It depends on what the situation is I guess. But there is a lot of paperwork to fill out I believe.

Yes, SEAS means that you submit your circumstances etc. and the university takes that into account when deciding to offer you a place. Whichever one you choose, you need to fill out forms/have appropriate professionals sign them/etc.

Of course. Doesn't have to be a medical thing, but that's the most obvious one.

You apply for SEAS and the unis take your disadvantage into consideration when theyre working out the VTAC offers. Ask your coordinator.

You have to apply for 'Special Arrangements' which are specifically exam considerations at the start of the year. I Applied for these and got rest breaks for every exam for the year. Didnt end up using them in the mid-years but theyre good to have up your sleeve I guess.

I'm reluctant to fill out an application because a coordinator or some other teacher would have to read it. I don't really want them to know about my circumstances because it's something i like to keep private. I mean i don't mind vcaa and stuff knowing but if another student at the school finds out.. i'd be devastated. I can't really talk about it to my friends either coz they don't know about my situation so all i have is you guys  :-[  Any suggestions? How else can i get it filled in?

I think it does have to go through your school. I can sympathise with you, i was thinking about SEAS, ect for a while (not even sure if i would qualify but...anyway) i wouldn't want all those people or anyone at my school reading my stuff either. (In the end i decided to not apply)

Depends on what basis you are applying on, it is a bitch to get it documented.

I know its terrible but the reality of the system is you either:
*Tell the school (if that's necessary for what you're applying), have someone read it and look over it even though you don't want to and get special consideration.

OR

*Don't tell anyone or do anything and don't get special consideration.

Those are basically the two options. I'm sure the teachers at your school are professional and will handle it well.

I had a meeting with my head of year and the student services coordinator, and we had a chat about what would go on the form and how I should fill it out. If I'd told them that I'd prefer them to keep it private, they would have respected that. If you're absolutely determined to keep the school from knowing, I'm pretty sure that you can submit the forms without telling them (although i guess this depends on why you're applying.)

Is your situation having a strong effect on your schooling? I mean, if nobody there knows about it? (you don't need to say what it is, just asking)

Ive been paranoid about my situation getting out for years. Its so hard and you have to be so thorough to keep in under wraps. Have to remember what you have or havent told people, who youve told, what lies youve told to some people, etc. Its not easy but hopefully I get rewarded with some consideration if I need it come selection.

You only need to tell your senior coordinator and one other person, eg. the assistant principle. I was so reluctant to tell my coord cause shes an absolute retard and I thought she'd blurt it out in front of someone at some point because shes just so ignorant, at least on the face of things. So far so good though.
