Where do I stand?

Just wondering about how screwed I am.

Basically, at this stage, I've been doing most of the textbook (minus the yellow pages) up until chapter 8.  The class is finishing chapter 9 by the end of this week, or thereabouts.  I haven't done any of the blue pages either, nor touched Checkpoints.

Assuming I catch up (which should be okish, hopefully) but still don't do the yellow pages/blue pages (or Checkpoints), and instead jump into doing lots and lots of exam papers once the course is finished, will I stand in good stead still for the end of the year?

Yellow pages = waste of time.

You are fine. Chapter 9 = chapter 8 with some bite.

I am in your boat atm.

You are doing more than I did. [I did about half of the 'interesting' problems, and spent my time sitting on my arse organising my itunes library.]

It's not about how much, it's about the quality of understanding, only you can judge whether mindless practice is going to be useful or not.

I do more of the yellow pages than the actual exercises (especially the extended response).

The exercises just test basic knowledge. It would probably be better to do chapter reviews (especially extended response) instead of doing heaps of exercises.

Is this for essentials book? if yes... your schools only up to ch 9? isnt that a bit slow considering theres only like 1 term left and the course should be completed at least half way - 3/4 through

My school's also only up to differential equations...
I worked ahead in the holidays so I'll have more time for practice exams.

We're up to chapter 13, on dynamics.

Should be finished the entire course in a couple of weeks.

tram, our teacher pushes us really hard, plus we did most of the year 12 course in year 11, so most of it was just revision this year.

And it'll take a few weeks to finish the course because we've got a couple of SACs soon which are going to take up some time.
