this may sound like a very stupid question but when do you use " or ' ?

I asked this a while back lol.  It doesn't matter apparently, just be consistent.

The only time you would use the different kinds is if you are quoting a quote which has another quote in it.  Use one type o the inner quote, and the other for the outer quote.

I generally use ' for quotes from texts, unless it was actually a person speaking and I'm quoting them directly, then I use ".
2009: Legal Studies [41]
2010: English [45], Maths Methods [47], Economics [45], Specialist Maths [41], Accounting [48]
