Does anyone know of any resources or ways to get better at understanding this text? I really enjoyed studying it for the SAC but I don't feel like I have enough understanding of it to write on it for the exam, does anyone know some way I can get better with it?

I found this on the net, and it's not too bad as a source for ideas/explanations.

Otherwise, probably Sparknotes. They aren't as bad as you may think, but don't rely heavily on them.

If you're going to write on race relations AT ALL, I would recommend not doing this in the exam as you will get like an 8/20.

Well, the racial relationships are the surface level of the text.  I mean like, if you just want to talk about how Forster approaches Indian vs. English relationships, that's a pretty obvious interpretation.

My typical thesis for Passage passage analysis was to do with the inadequacy of man's logic when pitted against an indifferent universe, and taking a closer look at the false power of humanity and how their structures can be demolished by the incomprehensibility of eternity.

But imo race relationships comes into that, because man's logic is inadequate in thinking it can easily bridge the east\west gulf in the face of forces that separate the Englishmen from the INdians.

But I know what you mean. I wouldn't go into an exam and say "Forster writes about how white people are mean to Indians"

Yesss, of course race must be addressed but the race relations are actually the technique, not the focus.

And yes, haha, have you seen last years exam?  It was all friendship this, friendship that.  Refuse.

yeah, but when you said AT ALL I was wondering whether you meant like....at all :P

And yeah I'll be writing a practise on last year's exam soon. I wasn't really going to talk about surface-level ideas about friendship, I honestly don't find that stuff interesting to talk about anyway. I chose this text because it has deeper ideas than any of the others and I'm hoping to be able to explore that, but the text is so vague at times it can get difficult :S

It's my favourite book in the world :)
I can send you some of my essays if you would like!
Just don't tell TSFX because I technically sold them to them and am no longer allowed to distribute them on the internet.

Selling my soul for 160 dollars.
I highly recommend it.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'taking a closer look at the false power of humanity and how their structures can be demolished by the incomprehensibility of eternity.'  could you explain that a bit further?
