In terms of fees... how much is it to do vce @ tafe? dependant on the number of subjects?

Aren't most of the people doing VCE at tafe are there because they messed up VCE hardcore though or just don't try or is that a misconception i have..

massive misconception, people do tafe for a variety of reasons, stonecold is doing year 12 for te first time via TAFE and doing amazing. CAE is a really good one as well as RMIT (where i do englang)

Mostly adults...I assume those that left at year 10, worked in something for couple of years and decided they wanted a degree

Nope. Most people in my class are a year older and around there, there is a couple of people a few years older but you hardly notice it.

CAE/RMIT do a few subjects, and work, you are sweet- cruisy year, working when you want to and put in the effort you want. its good.

In terms of fees... how much is it to do vce @ tafe? dependant on the number of subjects?

depends where, at mine it was a few hundred dollars per subject.

Hahah that's cheap as yo!

Better than paying 6k to go to a school that averages 60 enter...

yep it's good.
plus if you are struggling with something, you will have the money to spend on a descent tutor anyway, and even if your parents dont want to fund it, you have so much time to work too haha. so there's definitely a way of doing so much better:) unlike now where i get home so late some days that i cannot be bothered studying. at TAFE so much extra time to relax+study, so good~

Have a poke around the CAE website and the menu to the right for more information on it:
http://www.cae.edu.au/web/?infosection=VCE

I honestly wouldn't mind it there are some things i really wanted to study but didnt get to.. and some schools do VCE over 3 years anyway.

I've heard different things... im confused... if you do a subject again... do you keep the most recent score or the highest. I mean if you keep the highest, theres no way for your enter to go down then but i've heard stories of people doing VCE over again and their enter went down (although it was pretty high to begin with..)

i just wish i had done further last year and then reduce my subjects to 5, doing englang via distance.
oh well..
there's always next year, it's just one year of your life- it's really not that much if it's going to get you where you want to (or potentially) and to explore other interests if you choose to :)

One year is worth getting into med over rather than 3 years stuck in science... (or whatever else people wish to get into, transferring is pretty hard in some cases i hear)

yep, must see umat first.
if the umat is okay, then chance of transferring into UWS, UTAS and UNSW is possible, especially utas if you dont mind going there considering it's the same course as Monash just in tas which doesn't seen too bad (have yet to visit).
i will actually study for this umat during my gap year if i don't do that well ^__^
winwin~

I'd rather go straight to uni, but if something happens on results day (presuming I check them), I'd repeat the year. I know personally that I could've done a lot better, and if it came down to not getting into my course, I'd take a gap year, earn some money and study 2 subject. Although I probably wouldn't do that with a high ATAR... I'm not obsessive.

I had a look at some practice umat questions that other people were doing... THEY ARE FRICKIN CRAZY INSANE...
i guess even if i repeat some year 12 subjects and get 99+, if i can't ace the umat, i wont get into med anyway

If i choose to repeat year 12, i'm gonna probably repeat chem, methods and spesh. As well as pick up uni maths + another 3/4
To take advantage of those 5th and 6th 10%'s

you'd probs have to do it at melb uni as monash doesn't accept appicants who are repeating yr 12 for their muep subjects.

Med entry gives you strategies and such, it just looks hard because its new. Once you do enough of them theyre mostly not so bad. Reminds me of a quote i know: "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.". If you try hard enough you will get there.

chance of transferring into UWS, UTAS and UNSW is possible, especially utas if you dont mind going there considering it's the same course as Monash just in tas which doesn't seen too bad (have yet to visit).

I was just planning on putting monash down.. i dont think my parents will pay for all that interstate bussiness

Ohh that's another thing my careers counsellor said... even if i repeat year 12 and get 99.95

when monash are sorting through people for mbbs, they will take into account how many years it took to complete vce, and you will be penalised for having more than 2 years for vce. i guess repeating does have its disadvantages... can't be all positives
