Transferring from Monash BSc. to UoM BSc.

I am aiming to get into monash bachelor of science, but I would like to know if it is possible to transfer to UoM BSc. after one year at Monash, keeping in mind that I have not completed math methods (UoM BSc requires methods as a prerequisite). I hear the facilities at Melbourne University are better and offer greater depth of science courses. It is also more closer (Monash Clayton will be a 1+ hour drive for me)

2011: English [41] Italian [27], Further Mathematics [32], Biology[40], Chemistry[34]

I hope you already checked and did some research on exactly what each course will offer you/what you can do in those instead of simply 'hearing'. But yes, you can transfer - even at midyear

You'll probably need to do MTH1010 (Methods equivalent at Monash), but apart from that I don't see why not.

Is that a subject at Monash Uni? Is it part of the science course? Or is this what you term a 'bridging course' ?

It's an actual subject in the B.Sci for those who haven't done Methods. You could do this in first sem to meet the prereqs, then transfer to UoM in second sem, I think.

Just to let you know, the guy who runs MTH1010 actually makes the subject much harder than what Methods is. He deliberately does it so you regret not doing methods in year 12. Or that's what he said anyway

If the person who ran Calculus 1 (almost equivalent to Spesh) at UoM did that, I'd be pretty annoyed.

Back on topic, I suppose if you did the MTH1010 unit at Monash to satisfy the Methods pre-requisite, got the mark required for it and got above the Clearly-In for B.Sci at UoM, then you'd get in after a mid-year transfer.

But the grey area would be the required mark of MTH1010.  If you did Methods, you would need a minimum of 25 but I'm not sure about MTH1010 and it would be pretty hard to ask the people at UoM since it is a subject offered at Monash.

It makes sense that you would only need a pass mark. A 50% in that subject would be roughly the same as a study score of 25.

The more important thing is why you would want to transfer from Monash to Melbourne. If the subjects you want to do are offered at both, but you can only get into Monash then you should stick with Monash.

I drive roughly 1 hour in traffic to get to uni everyday. It's not that bad, you get used to it

I'm going for monash science over Melb science as a fallback for med, I don't really understand why you'd want to transfer tbh.

Whilst all he needs to do is pass the subject to qualify, he needs to get much higher marks in order to successfully transfer.

I asked the sci faculty if I could do 2 majors and a minor and they told me that I couldn't. Given this information, I doubt you could do 3 majors.

What do you plan on majoring if you do Bsc at Monash? If you want to do something mathematical, then Monash is pretty good, I don't really see any difference really. But say you want to do something along the lines of physics, then definitely transfer to Melbourne.

I was interested in the area of molecular biology, genetics, or environmental science. What would be the best unis for those?
