Oh good. So I can probably buy the Units 3/4 NOB textbook for next year now without fear of the edition changing (it only tends to change each study design).

haa it won't change, so you can start studying now if you want;)
though, i'd recommend Heinemenn, it is the best biology book as it sticks very closely to the study design unlike NOB which goes wayyyy of track and has heaps of unneeded info. (we switched to H because it is was so much better!.. unfortunately i wasn't able to continue using mine :'( )

we use heinemann, but i've been using NOB because I thought that was better haha.  probably should just read them both.  not that i have the time...

NOB is just massive btw

but there was a part i used for NOB that was programmed cell death? if i remember. otherwise all heinemenn (i didnt buy NOB just borrowed someone elses)

Also, it can't end next year because then I couldn't milk my 50 for all the money it's worth.

Mavisgibbons did you have to do a lot of memorising and taking notes to get a 50? It seems like your strengths are more in English, do you reckon knowing how to concisely comprehend and answer questions properly is a key component to succeeding in biology?

Haha my strengths are actually on par between science and English, but not in maths, I am quite shitty at maths.
My 38 in chemistry is a reflection of my inability to time manage in Exam 1, as all experienced in 2009.  Fun times and all that was.

Anyway, yeah I did a lot of work - writing everything out and doing like 50 practice exams per semester.
Works well!
Comprehending questions is important - you need to be able to recognise key components and answer accordingly, ie, what is the question actually asking you?  Most people lose marks because they forget to define something that needs to defining.  If you work out how the marks are divided up, then you will do better because you will ensure you are doing enough for however many marks you need.  It's usually a sentence a mark, really, but with all sentences significantly different.
And answering them properly is always significant.
I always give ridiculously long answers but yep.  That's just how I roll.
