I'm legit SEAS case too since we receive FTB A and my dad is the only one working. But should I really have to make a long impact statement to convince everyone I'm financially disadvantage? Or it's okay if I make my statement not so long?

If it's well written and explains all the circumstances/consequences clearly then length wouldn't matter.

just curious how does receiving centrelink benefits actually make you any less capable in VCE. I get that family tax benefit and youth allowance, etc. but wont be applying for SEAS for that category.

Why wouldn't you apply for it if you're eligible to?  Low socio-economic status can be a key SEAS category to get you over the line. And quite useful for scholarship applications as well.

It's all about educational disadvantage. Perhaps you've had to take on more responsibility at home whilst your parents work, thus less time for study. It may have caused emotional stress for you and your parents.  The school you had to attend may have had less resources it was located in a low socio-economic area.

Im not applying because I should have a strong enough case with just my medical one. I dont want to be seen to be clutching at everything I can cause that might undermine the seriousness of my legit plea. Plus being in a low earning household hasnt really affected me.

It's not about the quantity, but rather the quality.

I should also point this out:

When you submit your SEAS application, VTAC has special people who are trained to assess each and every application individually.  If you have applied for 1 category, then they'll look at that.  If you've applied for more, then they'll look at that.  These people will read and assess your SEAS application and rank it into categories similar to this:

1.  Low
2.  Medium
3.  High (or severe)

This rating will then be forwarded to all the institutions listed on your list of preferences.

If i qualified for category 5 and my school is also underrepresented what enter would i need to get into commerce @ Melbourne? And how about Monash?

Also if i receive youth allowance and my family get FTB A, do i need to apply for both or is saying you get youth allowance enough cos don't you have to send documents to vtac to confirm you get FTB A.

I'm a category 4.

Does this SEAS stuff even have much of an effect on application into tertiary studies? So points are added onto the aggregate score right? Why won't that just translate itself into a slightly higher ATAR score?

My case is pretty tragic, won't go into details but if they do add points to your aggregate, in extreme cases how much are we looking at here?

2009:
Math Methods: 35 [41]
Vietnamese: 22 [26]

2010:
Chemistry: 40+
Physics: 45+
Specialist Maths: 40+
English: 45+
Japanese: 30+

Hopefully: 99+
Ambition: Medicine, Pharmacy or Radiography.

Ignore the above. I've failed Year 12 and life. I've had an epiphany... I'm destined to become a gigalo.

If you qualify for the Guaranteed Place at UoM, then you need 88+.  At Monash, it's just the standard.  They'll take your SEAS application into account and they'll rank you from there.

Your SEAS application does not affect your results in any way.  Rather, it informs selection officers of your circumstances that have affected to education and it they may re-rank during selection.

The institutions decide how much more they will give you. Ie. Monash could give you +3 to your aggregate but for the very same application Melbourne may only give you +1.

Its impossible to tell how much they will give you even if you know the strength of your case.

the  careers woman at my sschool said that the guaranteed 88 thing is only if youre catagorized as 'severe'... is this true, or can it be low/medium as well?

Has anyone got any example of impact statements and description of condition (cat 9).
