If you didn't sit the umat this year, you cant do ugrad entry next year. If you want to go the pgrad pathway, any degree is fine (but be aware that UoM has prereq subjects) for your undergraduate course.
Say, I don't want to do a pgrad pathway (which might take longer time depending on the course I will be doing) in medicine. I didn't do the UMAT but is there anyway that I can get in to an undergrade entry? It doesn't have to be next year, maybe I can spend the next year completing the necessary requirements to get in -- if that's enough time.
I also want to take undergrad med and you can't just really waltz in and get a place. Did you just start considering med the past couple weeks? You picked a really bad time buddy.
Anyway as said above you'll need Chemistry for Monash and a competitive enter (Lowest i've heard of is 88 for a rural student, but realistically 95+ i guess would be the aim, maybe a little lower if you go for a bonded place but not much lower).
Also, you'll need to do the UMAT, it is too late now.
There are very little "backdoors" or "pathways" to get into ungrad medicine at monash. It is a highly competitive course, i think you were asking something of that nature. If you don't have the enter or the prerequisites or the umat there is no chance you will get in.
Also note UoM doesnt offer undergrad medicine... so you don't have to even worry about it or ask about it for now.
Your options at this point are:1)*Do year 12 again next year
-> Do chemistry
->Take the umat
->Get an awesome enter score
-> Apply to monash
2)*Go to uni
->Do biomedicine or science somewhere
-> Study the prerequisite subjects for the gamsat, Year 12 (OR equivalent uni physics) - 1st/2nd Year chem - 1st/2nd year Bio
->Study the prerequisite subjects for UoM medicine, 2nd year anatomy, physiology & biochemistry (you must take these)
->Once you complete your bachelor of biomedicine or science apply for postgrad medicine somewhere
3) *Pick another career?
Time Frame:1) 1 Year repeating year 12 + 5 Year monash MBBS =
6 Years2) 3 Years undergraduate Degree + 4 Years postgrad medicine =
7 years3)
?? ?? ? ?Sorry if i'm coming off as a little blunt but im just telling it how it is.
If you're deciding you want medicine just now, it might not be what you actually want. Lots of people who want to do medicine have wanted to do it for ages. It might just be a phase thing or a whim thing you're going on. Due to this and the suckyness of year 12 and no guarantee of getting into medicine after doing year 12 again id recommend
option 2.
Option 2 you don't have to repeat year 12 again and not possibly get into medicine for a second time, also with bachelor of science you can choose 2 majors in the second year so if you decide you don't want to do medicine anymore after all its easier to change to do something that you would like to do. (You could choose engineering or IT or something within science or you could transfer to an arts degree or something i guess)
I'm also going about it the
option 2 way, since i doubt ill get a high enough enter for monash mbbs... or i could always just not go uni and deal drugs im from the westside im already qualified.
I think the
melbourne science degree is an excellent program but
biomedicine has subjects specifically for
biomedicine, like
physics for biomedicine and chemistry for biomedicine, it
cuts out the crap you don't need to get into graduate medicine (Like you wouldnt need much astrophysics for medicine id imagine,ect)
Its hard to get into (Biomedicine), as hard as medicine basically.Im pretty sure it has a science subject prerequisite like bio or chem. (Need an enter of 95 is for melbourne biomed)
So you'd probably need to do bachelor of science somewhere... i'm not sure if any unis offer bachelor of biomedicine to people who don't have chemistry.
I looked up a couple course for you:
Melbourne Science (At least 25 in Mathematical Methods and at least 25 in one of Biology, Chemistry or Physics.)
Melbourne biomedicine (A study score of at least 25 in:* Chemistry)
Monash Biomedicine (Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4–a study score of at least 35 in English (ESL) or 30 in any other English, a study score of at least 25 in chemistry and in one of physics, mathematical methods (either) or specialist mathematics.)
Monash Science

(Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4–one of biology, chemistry, mathematical methods (either), physics, geography, psychology or specialist mathematics, and a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English. - Enters not too high either)
RMIT Biomedicine(Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4–English (any), chemistry and mathematics (any) or physics.)
RMIT Applied Science

(Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4–English (any) and mathematical methods (either) or specialist mathematics.)
La Trobe Science

(Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4–English (any) and either mathematical methods (either) or specialist mathematics.)
Deakin Biomedicial science (Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4–a study score of at least 25 in English (ESL) or 20 in any other English, and a study score of at least 20 in one of biology, chemistry or physics.)
