pharmacy at monash

my friend today told me that the cut offs for pharm at monash are lower for entry into next year, is this true?
fingers crossed it is :S
also is the UMAT realy that important for getting into pharmacy at monash?
and whats generally the cut off score for pharm at monash consiering i did bad on the umat (like 50~60 percentile)

the scores going up because there are new pharmacy schools?
if there was new pharm schools then the competition wouldn't be so great as more people would be going for these other schools.. But i didn't know they were opening up new ones! awsm.

can you get into pharmacy directly at deakin?
soo confused right now.

maybe try going to their website is a start to get unconfused? they do have their courses on there..
deakin is graduate medicine, go look it up along with pharmacy haha.

what i meant was that there has been pressure to lower the intake of students and one of the ways to do it is by increasing the cut off. Opening new schools isnt awesome. The metro area has become saturated by pharmacists and people are complaining that getting jobs is hard and the pay isnt decent because of it. With deakin and RMIT opening new schools it would be just making this worse. Right now a career in pharmacy is quite bleak and it is going to get worse by the time you graduate coz of these new schools. All i can say is have a rethink about the course of pharmacy lisa, and think of other alternatives. If u really like pharmacy then go for it, you might be lucky and score a decent job in the future but 70%-80% end up going to retail since it is the easiest to get into. The pay isnt that great either ive heard people only getting paid $25-$30 an hr which is like $2 or $3 more than people who are working as retail clerks who dont need a university degree to get that position. Im not trying to purposely put you off just lettin you know to try to think very hard before you make a decision.

well im not sure for deakin if it is concrete solid yet, but i know RMIT have made offers for employments for lecturers and stuff

Woah woah woah.... Pharmacy at RMIT? How come it hasn't come up on the VTAC course selections? Is it graduate entry? I had a skim through and couldn't see whether it was undergrad or not.

Currently there are no articulation arrangements for the B Pharmacy degree.  However, students who have successfully completed the first year of B Biomedical Science, B Biomedical Science (Pharmaceutical Sciences) or B Applied Science (Laboratory Medicine) at RMIT can apply for entry into the second year of the program from 2012.

^oh yeah i was wondering why it wasnt on vtac as i just checked too. haha i guess it's new then, that's exciting for people in the future. i quite like rmit.

Yeah it must be new for 2012 I think! I quite like RMIT too, it gives opportunities to people who dont get those really high ATAR scores yet can still achieve very well
