Exam % Necessary to score 48+?

Roughly what percentage on the exam do I need to get 48+? The grading report isn't being helpful.

Have yet to drop a mark on SACs if that's relevant.

ITA is not competitive at all. You can get around 85% on the exam and still get 48+. Also, hardly anyone gets a perfect score on an IT exam.

That's a lot easier than I would have thought - how do you know this? Did you get a SoM?

Yes. I can't find my SoM at the moment, but I remember losing about 12 marks on the 2008 ITA exam. I got a study score of 49.

Some of the marks I lost were stupid mistakes, but they were mainly lost on ambiguous questions which hardly anyone got right.

Also, re: SACs - you probably need to be top of the class as well (which I'm assuming you are if you haven't dropped a mark). My SACs were mostly in the 95-100% range, and they all got moderated to 100%.

I haven't dropped a mark yet but neither has one other person in the class. So I'm 'sharing' 1st place for Unit 3 and I'm probably going to lose it for Unit 4 because the second SAC is a theory one, which he has an edge on me in.

You should still be okay. As long as the two of you perform well on the exam, it won't make a huge difference whether you are first or second.

hey ell, can i ask whether i can still get a 45+ for IT apps, i'm sitting on a Low B+ average when you average out all my SAC scores, giving me a rank of 3 out of 10'ish people (difference of less than 10% between me and first). However, i honestly think the teacher the teacher marks us REALLY harshly or maybe he's lazy. I'm confident for the exam, however, what could a 95% + on the exam get me?
thanks.

hey guys out of a class of 8 im like ranked 6th or 7th.....because the teacher hates me.
Our small cohort is pretty strong though. Lets say i only drop a 2-4 marks on the exam, and get the
highest mark on the exam out of my cohort..
what would i be looking to get around for study score?
my SAC grades are low B.
2009 - Further Maths (37) , Cisco Semester 1&2 (Pass)
2010 - English (35+) Methods CAS (35~) IT APPS (40+) IT SD (40+)

Hey ell, when you say you lost 12 marks, is that 12/90 or 12/180? I'm assuming its 12/180?

No, I mean 12/90, or 24/180. I found my SoM, so I can show you now:

Multiple choice

Short answer and total score

And for good measure, proof of my 49

It does change from year to year, but not drastically.

Wow, incredible!

Do the VCAA mark ITA leniently? Did you surprise yourself with your raw score? I've heard the assessors report is a lot more stricter than how they actually mark the papers.

I came out of the exam quietly confident of a 48+ score, so (not meaning to sound arrogant or anything) I wasn't totally surprised when I got my 49. What did shock me, though, was the fact that I lost 12 marks.

As for the marking... it depends. For a 2 mark question after doubling (i.e. 1 mark on the exam paper) I got 1 out of 2, which meant that one of my markers gave me the mark while the other didn't.
