Wow, incredible!

Do the VCAA mark ITA leniently? Did you surprise yourself with your raw score? I've heard the assessors report is a lot more stricter than how they actually mark the papers.

I came out of the exam quietly confident of a 48+ score, so (not meaning to sound arrogant or anything) I wasn't totally surprised when I got my 49. What did shock me, though, was the fact that I lost 12 marks.

As for the marking... it depends. For a 2 mark question after doubling (i.e. 1 mark on the exam paper) I got 1 out of 2, which meant that one of my markers gave me the mark while the other didn't.

Shocked that you had lost 12, or 'only' lost 12?

A friend of mine said she was getting 70% on her trial exams but got a 45 for the subject. That's why I thought the marking must be much more lenient. Were you getting 86% on your trial exams?

I read my study score before my statement of marks, so I was shocked because I didn't think you could get a 49 from losing 12 marks.

As for trials, I think I was getting higher than 85-86%. I can't remember exactly, I didn't do many.

Out of the 4 sacs my scores in order were 93%,90%,89%,91%.

What would i have to get on the exam to get a 40?

It's your rank in the cohort rather than your raw scores which count - how are you rank-wise?

That sounds fine - about 75% on the exam should net a 40 according to the grading report.

Raw I meant. This is an estimate by the way - find someone who got 40 and ask them roughly what they got on SACs/the exam.

hmmm,, im ranked 2nd and over all ive got  41.25/50 from my sacs, and the guy whos first has got 42/50 ,, if i tell my teacher to lift up our sac marks, does that help me in the exam?? i mean the final score will that get lifted?

say i get like 85 in the ita exam, idk how it works, but is it better that i have higher sac marks, or then will vcaa compare my sac marks (higher) than my exam, and drop me.. ?

Okay, my average was about 70 - 80% on the SACS. top of the cohort.
On the exam I knew I lost a lot of marks, so I was extremely surprised when I got my score (47)

WOW really? How many marks did it say you lost on your Statement of Marks?
I've averaging what you averaged for your SAC, but ranked 3rd out of a class of 10ish. My practice exam results fluctuate between 78-85%

Considering ~85% got nell 49, he [Linkage] could have still lost a fair bit...

Well I completely didn't answer one 3 mark question (one of the easiest on the paper- had a mind blank) and another worth a lot of  marks I wasn't sure and just wrote a random answer. Who knows? Maybe it could have been the right one but my SAC scores brought my final score down.

but the point is, you can ace this subject, no matter your SAC scores, so go for it!

I got kinda angry, I lost 16 marks on the 2007 AND the exact same for 2008. D:
I never really go to check my work again though, even though i finish 40+ mins early for each exam, maybe in the real exam i will pick up on silly mistakes i made?
Your story has given me confidence though, i can only imagine the people who do ITA bludge it and would not even study for it.
