plus, you gotta consider the fact that eng/biomed is a killer degree. itll take a lot of you rtime, and impact your social experince at uni (deterimentally)

That's pure assumption... you're not speaking from personal experience. Even if someone who was doing the degree said that, everyone's different and many will still be able to balance all facets of uni life comfortably regardless of the course they are enrolled in.

@99.95_for....
well its a bit more than pure assumption
i have friends who did engineering double degrees (did- past tense, aka they have finished) and have discussed the issue of balancing social life and studying properly. the major consensie was that it did impact heavly on their social life.

everyone is different, and i have no personal experince, but i have pondered a similar double degree and have done my research (eg, contact hours, experiments etc etc). Im just passing on  what i found

ohh and btw, i doubt there are ''many'' which can balance med/law

Well the guys that can actually get into med/law in the first place are already insanely smart and can do anything :P

Did any of your friends (the ones who've graduated) drop one side of a double degree to alleviate some pressure and/or to shorten their degree length?

one did, and choose to do just pure eng (i think was mechatronic/science)
the other one is still doing both of them atm  (law/eng)

mind you, both these guys were genius'

good luck with whatever you do :)

Do you know what the law/eng guy is specialising in? And what he hopes to do after he grads? I've never understood it... you're either a lawyer or an engineer, you can't be a 'law engineer'?

lol..no i dont no what he wanted to do, but;
i met someone at an open day at monash who did enviromental engineering/law and he was talking about firms which acutally need the double degree so that they can go through particular projects and not have to outsource legal help etc etc
i also have a family friend , electroinc engineer, who told me (wen i was consdeirng eng/law) that there acutally is a demand (atm, cud change in future) for the double degree, espically for civial enginnerring. the specifc details i dont really know, id email the law faculty of monash (which i think manges the double degree) and ask them about relveant jobes etc

nahh drug dealing/ prostitution monash clayton :P

was orignally gonna do it, that is eng/law, then i realsied that the aspects of law that im intrested in (intellecutal property, district atternoy, divorce settlements etc etc) dont really mix well with eng.
ideally, id love to do med/law but the wrk load is crazy, and getting into med at monash is a bitch. i guess im kinda looking at the law/arts direction atm, but i ponder with arts is really valuble (for the $$ its gonna cost). Its more of an add-on degree. just for fun, not really that practical

its like doing arinotcal eng......its damn intresting, but theres no industry, has been no industry in australia for last few decades

lol thats why im sticking to law/arts

just remember that most european countries which have a large industryt in this area are non english speaking (mostly germany, russia, france). The only countries you could really work in if u wanna stick to english is usa and england. england after an accredation course (cost you a ton of $$) would be aright. dont even think abt the states, they dont accept and degrees from other countires. you have to go through a conversion process, whcih costs a sh*t load

Oh i've never heard of these things? I thought the monash degrees are worldwide, well that's what they told me at open days and info seshs... they said "once i graduate, i can get a job anywhere in the world, so that's pretty cool". Might just be the engineering ones?
