I'm just doing GMA next year to get into Specialist Mathematics units 3/4. Man, i just checked the essential cambridge Adv. Gen
i can a see a lot new topics are going introduced for newcomers like Matrices, kinematics, statics of a particle, two-three dimensions and much more
Those topics look really fun to do, I'm glad theres no Probability but too bad Methods 1/2 have Two chapters in Prob argh.
But whats worser then that is Methods 3/4 ^ having three chaps on prob + i think topics like Discrete Random Variables, binomial distribution.
and Continuous distributions will be difficult handle.
dont stress man, GMA is actually easier than methods in unit 1 (at MHS anyway)! Probability is not that hard in methods either, just need to get your head around conditional and nPr/nCr
Permutations are not on the yr 12 methods course?
And Binom+Norm is just, to put it bluntly, 95% calculator work
they should be... definitely on the 1+2 course, which I assume leads onto the 3+4 course (but harder)
In Unit 2, the content on permutations and the applications of permutations to probability, and the informal treatment of examples involving binomial and hypergeometric probabilities has been deleted, and calculation of probabilities for combinations of successive non-independent events emphasised.
