Worth repeating Year 12?

Is it worth repeating year 12 to get a higher ATAR, or to go do a first year at university and then try to transfer into your desired course?

Because right now, my dream course is Com/Law at Monash, but I doubt I'll even get in at the rate I'm going with some of my subjects.

B+ for Chemistry mid-year
B for Physics

Looking at my results, they're not very good...and Monash has some 95+ ATAR rule for under 17 year olds that massively sucks :(

Thoughts? Should I repeat? Please help me with my decision x]

If you repeat, are you 100% sure you will get in the year after? I know monash doesn't take into consideration how many years a student has taken to complete VCE but ensure you WILL definetely get in the year after to avoid throwing away a year of your life and suffering year 12 all over again.
This year has been tremendously overwhelming and overtly stressful to me personally, and that is the reason why i wouldn't want anyone to have to go through it twice unless they absolutely have to

No, don't repeat. The ATAR is nothing but your ticket to uni, once uni starts no one will ever ask whether you got 90 or 95. It may seem like a good idea now but it might be something you'll regret going down the track.

Yeah, which is why it's kind of hard deciding. To live through the painful torture of year 12, or to go on to uni...hmm.

When you move on from year 12, you'll realise theres more to the world than what school makes it out to be. You will undoubtedly find something you enjoy at uni even if you don't get into comm/law. you could just get into comm and if you really like it, you'll get HD or something with ease. then your chance of transferring will be very high.

Year 12 makes your head hurt, save your wallet the pain of having to fork out for panadol

Syao- If you are prepared to work really hard next year and get the score for your law course you want to do, how fun is this really going to be? How certain are you that you will get it?
If you actually going to work hard to get in, and want it that bad, its probably easier (due to doing subjects your more interested in) and funner to just do a year of a different course and then transfer across with an average of high 70s.
IMO, if you are motivated enough, you will be able to get this transfer grade by doing more interesting than vce subjects and smash them:) you aren't aiming for 100% perfection by ROTE or repeating the same style questions a hundred times over like VCE, you are aiming for 80% by actually trying to learn all the material and understand it, whilst doing some practice - far better learning style

Realise so many people are competing for that score in vce as a school leaver, so you have to beat them, rather than have to beat all the lazy first year undergrad students who just want to take a chill year.

But, it is up to you - you may find it is easier to just get the score by repeating VCE, otherwise uni is probably better.

Goodluck regardless!

Haha hopefully it isn't my fault xD

hmm very true. well i suppose if you really want to get into your course that bad and you are prepared to spend another year at school, then maybe you should repeat.

There is no doubt repeating will be easier and less stressful, resulting in a higher ATAR.
The reality is... in the end no one gives a rats about what you got, and neither will you.
"i got 99.95, but i repeated" does not sound impressive at all.
Nothing worse than come 13th december 2011 when you make a hole in the wall because you're exactly where you were a year before.

But then I guess it's easier to internally transfer to Law than getting 98.
It's all over now..

And also... next year when your friends (in uni) call you up asking if you wanna come out and have fun, you respond with
"nah i cant, gotta study for year 12 exams"

Think about it :P

But then I guess it's easier to internally transfer to Law than getting 98.

depends on the person.
let's say i got 98 this year, i could fairly easily push it up a few increments to get the score required for law by just working hard at let's say two subjects and smashing them, and having heaps of free time unlike uni which is more work than just two vce subjects to push up your enter.
but if i got 90 this year, it would require a lot more work than if i already had 98, may have to do more than just 2 subjects to get it, so i'd probably find it easier to transfer across.
