Most of them are; they give you quite a good representation/depiction of how the actual oral would be like. haha.

And yeah it was XJS.

At XJS Mt. Waverley they paired one examiner with one teacher. The examiner I got was actually pretty nice. Also, I wouldn't recommend improvising for the general convo because unpreparedness+nervousness+intimidating examiners= mind can't think :(

haha ..not really improvise...maybe that was exaggeration, i actually wrote and answered every single question out already, i actually mean not as in word by word...
but yeah, sometimes , improvisation works if you are really good with language skills, becasue they want spontaneous reactions with body language and act as yourself and not a robot who's dull face expressions..
oh well, that's my point of view, maybe that's from a SLA's point of view...

no, improvising is a vital part of the oral component as they would clearly be able to differentiate between a student who is merely memorising everything word-for-word, and a student who has memorised the key points, yet is still able to 用自己的语言来清清楚楚地表达出来所想表达的意义和内容。

Well technically not improvising, because you still remember part of it, just not all. So not entirely made up.

BTW, are you guys bring in any props/posters?

basically for general convo, memorise EVERYTHING but pretend you are "improvising" on the spot by not just reciting your memorised material but have pauses here and there to make it SOUND like a normal conversation.

if you are a good actor, you should be fine ;)

guys it's important to just relax and keep calm, had my oral exam already. The examiners are fairly nice, some will seem cold and intimidating, but just keep smiling and maintain eye contact of some sort. Avoid saying "UM" and instead just pause it's more natural that way for the examiners.
