I thought that consequential marks play an important role in the marking system. . (espec for methods/physics)?
Also, some questions are structured as 'show that' questions, so they actually give you the answer in part a) and regardless of how many mistakes you make, you can carry on the receive full marks in b)

@kyzoo, how many marks did you drop overall in both exams? What was your position in the cohort?

I lost 2.5 marks overall (so 235/240) and I was like rank 5-10

I think that 2.5 marks can still get you a 50 - did Sac marks bring the score down?

Probably, but last year was a relatively easily exam with a high A+ cut off (~6 marks above cut-off for 2008).

Cause apparently if you're ranked #2 in the cohort but you achieve the top exam score, you still only received the 2nd highest study score>
e.g. last year the person ranked #1 in my cohort got 49 - and I'm not sure if he blitzed the exams...

Mmmm I'm sure there were people higher in SAC ranking that still got lower SS than me though

That's be pretty stupid. I doubt the system is that flawed.

Check the vcaa website - 'that's what 'standardization' entails.
