thanks!!
Pleasure and pain. They’re not opposites. They’re neighbors … separated by a thin line, by a split second.
One minute you’re feeling like everything is going your way … like you’re ready to climb the highest mountain … headed for the top of the world.
But in the game of life you never know.
You train for years to get a piece of personal glory or a chance to stand toe to toe with your peers and say, “Here I am. Take your best shot.” Then the contest begins and BANG! — you’re down for the count.
It’s not your day. You tried your best. But was it really your best?
So do you go home with a broken

well it's not exactly "hard" maybe some students find it hard because it covers a more "abstract" (at least for VCE students) area of mathematics and does rely on strong fundamentals.

So if you have strong fundamental skills and you think you are mature enough to tackle the more abstract concepts of mathematics, then you will find spesh very fun :)

thanks yeah. it's not that i won't be able to handle the concepts and abstract maths. i generally haven't got a problem with that
it's just the workload and deadlines to finish chapter, exercises etc i have a teacher now who likes for us to rely on our own independance for getting things done on time
i also wanted to add thta i'll most likely have a good teacher next year

imo specialist maths isn't all that hard that lack of judgement has served it up to be.
The workload? Not even that much.
All up there are 13 chapters (well for the essentials book anyway) in comparison to methods which has 17-18
There aren't any irrelevant chapters, most of them flow with each other (unlike probability in methods)
If you're interested in spesh I'd say go for it, it's not boring!

i think you should go for it. You seem to have qualities which would help you succeed in the subject. And as for workload and deadlines, that is pretty much with every subject in year 12.

You say you have will have a good teacher, which i believe is a bonus. It is better for you to learn your own independence instead of relying too much on the teacher. if you do so, you might find yourself falling behind.

TC, and good luck for next year

^ That's cause you are a maths genius.
I think it depends on your maths background. For most of us, not doing specialist maths is as WTF as some kids would say doing the subject is.

The hype only comes from
a) humanities students who find all math complicated and unecessary
b) further math students

So true.

I have never, ever understood the hype.

It isn't really harder than methods. It is the same style of maths, just different areas of study. And really I see these as small extensions of methods, bar complex numbers and mechanics.

Also, I think that doing Methods in year 11 has really changed our perspective on Spesh. We've taken two small steps rather than one giant leap.
