Ive' decided not to do TSSM and I never do TSFX. Do you guys think this is stupid? I've reasoned that TSSM is just being impossible, worse than chem 2009 so I won't bother. I did do a bit of tssm 08 or 09.
TSSM teaches you how to work quickly and not fall into panic just because you see a question you can't immediately grasp.
What I've learned from doing hard exams is:
~ For hard exams, always do short answer section for Exam 2 first before multiple choice
~ ALWAYS USE YOUR CALCULATOR WHENEVER POSSIBLE IN EXAM 2, RESIST THE URGE TO DO STUFF BY HAND JUST BECAUSE YOU KNOW HOW TO
~ Don't be scared that you got something wrong and recheck your solution immediately after writing it; if you do this you will definitely run out of time
I dunno, doing TSSM and Derrick Ha has made me a lot more immune to panic. I don't think they've actually enhanced my mathematical ability, but rather amplified my ability to focus and my self-trust.
I got raped really hard on my first TSSM, then I went OK on my 2nd one because of the lessons I learned about how to deal with hard exams from the 1st one.
1st one (TSSM 2009)
~ Exam 1: 26/40
~ Exam 2: 64/80
2nd one (10 practice exams later) (TSSM 2010)
~ Exam 1: 39/40
~ Exam 2: 77/80
