Please take a Quick Look and answer Yes/No. PLEASEEEEE!!!!

Hi guys, I think something has clicked in my close analysis essay writing. Here's an introduction, could you guys just answer yes/no if this is closer to being on the right track as opposed to my previous essays. If i'm not on the right track, please please say so!

Ammaniti's depiction of immature children with selfish, fickle values suggest these to be the qualities the author laments associating them to be prevalent with people bereft of moral-education. The children's appointment of Michele's venture into the broken house suggest them to be without perception of the magnitude of their actions, pardoned only by their childhood innocence/ignorance. Barbara is exemplary of this ignorance as she struggles to comprehend a basic fact of life, 'Why's it always me?'

This sounds too much like a general English-styled text response. To avoid this, I suggest that you immediately begin with a language technique (metaphor, hyperbole, imagery, whatever). If it's a good quote that encapsulates the author's explorations you'll find it easier to deliver a discussion of themes, authorial intention and views+values.

Also, a close analysis in Literature does not have an "introduction" or conclusion. There is no need/time to summarise what you're going to say or what you've said, but definitely make your last paragraph sound conclusive at least. Avoid saying "in conclusion" - this is very mainstream English.

You write very well so it's easy to correct these problems with practice. Kudos on the vocab! :)

Flip the ordering a bit, so have Barbara+ignorance and the quote in the morning, discussing how that illustrates ignorance and how that's something Ammaniti's exploring throughout his novel. Then you prove that you've looked at the passage straight away.

While I want to agree with you, some of the recent examiners reports would suggest otherwise.

This is from the 2008 examiners report:

Students should always aim to provide a working introduction, seeing it as an opportunity to set up their interpretation and perhaps to indicate how they intend to use the passage/s to structure their response.

oh wow :O

My mistake...

Well I guess if it works for you, then by all means do it. I prefer to just jump straight into the passages though....

MGS teaches to just have a one sentence introduction, like "Throughout these three passages, Shakespeare explores the dichotomy between the metaphysical and physical realms".  An introductory paragraph seems excessive.

Our literature teacher doesn't have a set means of telling us how to structure our writing, but he is also an advocate of sentence, or sentence-and-a-half-long introductions, like 'Ibsen's play, Hedda Gabler, focuses upon the plight of main character Hedda, as she feels trapped in a life she believes she cannot escape from. Part of the reason she feels so asphyxiated is revealed in passage (one/two/three)....'
