Dont want to learn art words? Doesnt Bio have tonnes of new words?
Yeah but I'm somehow motivated to learn biology terms rather than weird art words like sgraffito
anyway I'm going to have to put up with it maybe I can teach myself to like the theory part of art
I was in your position, except replace art with music. I loved the performing and practical work, absolutely despised theory. But I think if you really love art, the history/analysing stuff won't be too bad. I was more than willing to do the boring theory stuff because I knew it meant I got to do the practical stuff too. I also freaked out at first since it was my first taste of VCE, but after a while you get used to it, you'll get into the flow of things, you might even forget that it's VCE and just enjoy the process of creating something beautiful.
Also I see you're doing at least 3 "tough" subjects - chem/methods/Japanese - I'm not saying that art is easy, but since you clearly love it, it might be a good break from the maths/sciency stuff. It's good to have subjects from a variety of areas IMO.
Biology 3/4 does overlap a tiny bit with chemistry 3/4 but I never felt it gave me any advantage whatsoever. And anyway that's a long way off - you can always pick up 3/4 biology without 1/2.
Thanks so much for your answer that really has made me feel better about my selection. I ended up selecting studio arts. But apparently art is far from easy, the girls at my school spend all their time in the art room because its not something you can do fast, you need to take your time. Also apparently there are so many art words to learn
I did year 11 biology, and 3/4 PE and chem.
I can tell you that year 11 biology does not help pretty much at all with either of these.
3/4 Biology definitely has it's overlap with both of these at a 3/4 level, but at year 11, don't bother.
You can easily pick up bio 3/4 if you change your mind, otherwise do something more fun, and not what compliments bests.
Up to you though.
Yeah I realised I was choosing biology because it complimented my other subjects.
From your description, it seems like you would enjoy art more, and that your main reason for doing bio is that it will compliment other subjects.
Just from my own experience, the guys that did both chem and bio, tended to drift off into bio world when answering chem questions...
I dropped bio after year 11 because it was a LOT of work. Pretty heavy and time consuming if you do it in year 12.
Deciding based on uni prereqs isn't an issue since both aren't major reqs for any of the courses i've seen (may be wrong)
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Thankyou for your answer yours was the only one I actually got to read before handing in my form,
yeah I do enjoy studio art more in some ways
and this actually scared me "tended to drift off into bio world when answering chem questions..." because I think I might lose focus on chemistry if I have two sciences because of bio's work load.
So I chose studio arts in the end.
