I dont want to study

I have no motivation. the thought of studying makes me physically ill and I feel even if I start i will pack it up in 15 minutes and realise that I dont give a shit anymore. What the fuck can I do?? Ive been so sidetracked by everything in the last 3 months I no longer care. Im not looking forward to going to uni and I have little motivation to get into any of my preferences. I feel like a normal student now when a few months ago I was more driven than anybody.

alternatiely, harden up! :P
i'm the king of procrastination, i taught myself guitar rather than write a law essay (two nights before it was due).
HOWEVER for the VCE i'm sure you can put aside your wants and needs for a week or so and just work flat out. just do it. you'll be glad you did.

Visionz, I saw what you achieved in the mid-year examination for Psychology and was very impressed. You gave me visionz to achieve well. (Props for that pun, eh?) Mate, you're in a marathon and have been coming first the whole time; don't drop now. Reach the finish line mate, do your parents proud and yourself too. If you fall now, you're never going to get over it.
Do not think; do, for 'impossible' does not exist.

I am in the same boat as you, i'm struggling so much to study, i went to the library for two full days alone and couldn't even study then just ended up drawing/daydreaming/eating. I know that it makes no difference whether i get 98 or 95 so what's the point in studying? my target is medicine, and i wont be getting in next year regardless and i'd prefer to do science than biomed anyway... not really excited for uni anymore.

since i know where you are coming for, i don't think it's even possible to have someone tell you what to do, the exams are within 10 days starting for most, when you realise how soon they are, you will pick up pace. also realise that in a few weeks if you didnt start studying you will regret it when you get your ATAR, prefer to have no regrets?
but yes, its only up to you to make the decisions to begin, im going to force myself since i'd feel sicker than i do studying if i was to get a terrible atar.

try a new approach, try going to the library and stay there from 10am-10pm, even if you procrastinate for a long time, you will definitely get something done, perhaps you will get more than you think you would.
or go study with some really motivated friend to force you to study.

find something that works, we can't help with that. i'm still trying to find my own way.

also, /agree x10000 to what herzy said,
we need to harden up.
seriously, we are getting lazy at the stupidest reasons, who cares if you dont have a set goal anymore, its better to do well than not.

Just my advice, but focus on your primary 4 subjects.  The rest is a waste of time.

I haven't done anything for English, cause I don't care about it and hate it.  Just going to rock up and write something.  Won't be pretty, but I don't care.

Also, try and study for the subjects you like.  I spend most time doing Bio.  Chem and methods I also don't mind.

EngLang is good, but I am not much of an essay person.  Essays are painful, so I always do them as part of an exam.  Tricks me into writing an essay quickly, and the written/spoken language stuff is usually okay.  Worst 2 hours of the day over.

Also, less is more sometimes.  I was initially planning on spamming and doing 5-6 exams a day.  This is too much and will probably drain you out.  Just do ~3 exams a day, trying on alternate days to cover most subjects/exams.  At least this way you will get productive work done and won't feel exhausted, bored or tired.

Then you can just spend the rest of the day either with friends, on here, doing some lighter study, brushing up on certain things.  Watch some TV, go listen to some music.  Get good sleep.

Spamming exams isn't going to prepare you for seeing or failing to see the word 'purpose' in the question of an EngLang exam.  You need to be in the right frame of mind come exam day.  Make sure you know what you need to know and how you will tackle your exams.  Prac exams are more for managing the pressure and time management.  As long as you can do this, and have a solid understanding of the course, you should be find come exam day. :)

Then, once it's all done, you can do WHATEVER you want.  No more school, waking up early.  This is motivation enough for me...

So glad I never have to go to a stupid class ever again!

I think the problem is your approach. You say, for instance, that you can only study for 15 minutes and you feel bad about yourself because of it. Realistically, those 15 minutes though were better than doing nothing. When you're unmotivated, working is really hard, but somehow you managed to be able to work for 15 minutes despite it.

Everyone has that moment of 'I don't care anymore', it's pretty much normal, especially in year 12. Just because you feel this way, doesn't mean that you'll feel that way forever, after all, as you said, you started the year feeling really really motivated. This is something you can work through, and something that can improve.

I think that you should focus on how if you do work through it, you will feel really proud of yourself later. You won't regret anything you do this year, you'll know you did your best. Things you shouldn't focus on are your potential score and your dangers of doing badly. Those things don't actually matter, because chances are, you are going to get into a course you want anyway. What matters is how you'll look back on it later.

Some ways of coping with a lack of motivation involves:
- doing small tasks that don't take a lot of effort, but need to be done anyway (e.g. re-reading English books, arranging your notes, doing practise problems that you know you can already do).
- focusing on a few subjects and getting those down, rather than trying to concentrate on all your subjects at once.
- breaking up what you need to do into really small chunks.
- doing something that will absorb your attention, where you won't even look at the time until you finish it.
- taking a day off from study (you'll feel really refreshed after that).
- decide to work for 15 minutes before giving yourself a break. Since you know you can work for fifteen minutes, work for fifteen minutes. Take a break for as long as you want, even an hour or two if you really think you need it, then go back to studying for 15 minutes. You can actually get quite a few things done in 15 minutes.
- studying with friends, since one of the worst parts of study is the fact that you are completely isolated a lot of the time, and so any doubts you have might actually fester when you don't have anyone to bounce ideas off.

Lastly, you obviously do care about it because otherwise, why would you post a question asking for advice on how to improve your situation?

Usually i do 1 prac exam a day (or none).
My friend came over the other day and we did 5-6 prac exams in a row (2 hour spesh exams). 9am til 7pm non-stop, except for 30 min to eat lunch.
The feeling was good when we finished because we basically got through a weeks work in 1 day.
Maybe try something like this, but warning: you may be burnt out the day after and end up doing nothing.

lol I just did a practice exam and it wasnt too bad. had to tell myself to harden up halfway through it though.
i set myself 2 a day from now and for english, which im really lagging in, for the first few exams im just gonna take all day on them rather than try to hit the time limit. neglecting my 5th sub as always.

the problem is that my top preference isnt the best opportunity I have. the other things would satisfy me so much more and suit me better in every single way.

i just need to find a way to pretend to care! depriving myself of all things enjoyable, food, tv, my phone, the internet, until ive done something productive is the only thing that works but its basically just an honesty system enforced by myself. itll stop working at some point, probably.

Apply the mentality you have in the gym to your studies. The 'go hard or go home' frame of mind.
