CSE 2008 Multiple choice

Just did the CSE 2008 practice exam, one multiple choice answer appears wrong to me:
Question 34 (no problem):
"Every time Billy feeds the cat his mother gives him a chocolate. In terms of schedule of reinforcement, the action is:"
a) variable ratio
b)variable interval
c) fixed ration
d) fixed interval

Question 35 (the one with the problem):
In the above scenario the desired behaviour is ................. and the reinforcement is ...........
a) getting chocolate; negative
b) regularly feeding the cat; negative
c) getting chocolate; positive
d) regularly feeding the cat; positive

The answers say that the answer to Q35 is B, but I think its D, as the mother is giving him a chocolate.
Any ideas?

It definitely is D. Unless his mother was a complete bitch and decided "NOPE! Feed the cat next time and we'll see about the chocolate -feasts on chocolate like venison to a lion-"

Thanks, I've checked over it a few times and it definitely says the answer is B in the solutions. Must be just a mistake. I thought there was actually a few strange questions in that paper in general - I guess this can only help when it comes to doing the 'easier' VCAA ones and the real one though.

It's D, but I just wanted to quote this, because the exemplar that you gave is actually an example of punishment (or a very inconsistent reward, variable ratio perhaps?).

Remember, negative reinforcement is the removal of a stimulus so as to promote a particular behaviour. So an example could be Every time Billy feeds the cat, mum stops smacking him (bad example, but you get the point right?)

or alternatively she stops electrocuting him

Oh yeah, my apologies, Glockmeister. I.. -contemplates an excuse- used the wrong cues! :P
