Hi guys just wondering,

Is there such a thing as consequential marking in specialist maths

If there wasn't consequential marking, then i'm sure most of us would have bombed out by now haha

why? if not, a simple +/- error in part (a) can result in the loss of like ten marks, a bit unfair if the whole method was correct.

I don't believe in hippies, doesn't mean they don't exist...

I'm pretty sure there is some form of consequential marking for VCE maths.

I can't see why not. If I were in charge, i'd allow for a plethora of consequential marks. If the method is right, then you know the student understands what they are doing. That is all the point of VCE maths should be; if the concept is sound, then you should be awarded, at least in part, marks for it. The only exception to this is if the answer they are working with is *ridiculous*, like giving an answer in terms of i when it says real number system. Then you know the student doesn't understand what they're doing.
