for those who commented on the first image in LA, what did you talk about??
Mentioned the stenciled outlines superimposed against the silhouette of the year '2010' attract readers attention, and then just mentioned how the trees, birds and fish point to the talk's environmental significance. . . and the two people holding hands encapsulates the overall message of cooperation and unity. . . .

doesn't the criteria state how written language is used to persuade? therefore it is for readers?

But it was a speech that he delivered. So its the listeners or audience. Its not like a letter from the editor or an article.

i think it's an area where you can show high attention to detail, but with a thorough analysis, it shouldn't impact negatively on your mark significantly (ultimately, for an awesome piece, examiners are going to be very lenient).

I said, that there were silhouettes of various forms of life and their habitat incorporated into the figures of the year '2010' implying that at the present time, biodiversity on earth is only a shadow of what it should be.

no, it was a speech. you were analyzing how his language was being used to persuade the audience.

TASK

How is written and visual language used to attempt to persuade the audience to share the point of view of the speaker in his speech 'Taking Stock'?

Works both ways :)

for the image on the first page I wrote that it showed like sort of the "beautiful elements of nature" whatever that means with like animals and fishes and tree and two people holding hands together (one seemed older than the other) so like the older and the younger generation need to work together to help the enviornment

wow that was smart!! i hope i dont lose marks for not using technical terms :S

i talked about the presence of the species and the word "2010" shows that they are linked together and that the presence of humans has an impact on all the other species. the child clinging onto and closely looking at the adult shows how dependent children are on adults and that the audiences job is to impart a message to our children so that they make appropriate decisions when they are old enough and so on..
