Don't worry I fixed it now.

It is slowly being abolished anyway.
Planned awesome subject for third year - 'Rock to Rave'.
Yes it is exactly what it sounds like - OPTIONAL CORE.

One can only hope this is because the university has decided to abolish the arts faculty.

I can dream right?

Actually, did you read the political statements published in Farrago during the election?  One person said that they will abolish the arts faculty if they were elected.

I knew I should have voted :(

The final edition had a typically abusive article about Glyn Davis and was complaining that he had made cuts to the arts faculty.

Because the Arts faculty is a load of bullshit.
I must admit it is so annoying when I'm reading through my optionals and I'm like 'oh that sounds interesting' and then read 'no intake for 2011' next to it.
I have had to put down three subjects I really don't want to do just because they are the ones I don't want to do the least.

Since the Model, the arts faculty has been the biggest losers out of this.  Those poor arts students.  Imagine what uni would be like without arts students.  Then people will have to make fun of science students.

Us science kids tend to give commerce students the most shit. Arts students just want to stay at uni forever, which is completely understandable. ;)

I don't even get Arts though.
Like, I used to make fun of Arts students because I thought all they did was bludge.
After experiencing it myself, I now know that is not the case because I do twice the work anyone I know in Science or Commerce does.
So now I just make fun of it because it leads nowhere and is a load of bullshit.

God my study plan is a nightmare; I need to get 37.5 points of credit from monash rescinded so that I have some available first year subjects to enrol in next year (including chem 2 over summer), and of my 2nd year subjects next year, the only ones I can enter won't let me enrol because I haven't been able to fit in their prerequisites.

There's no way I can do this over the phone, so now I'm gonna have to go up to uni, from frankston (3.5 hour round trip), just to sort this out.

We do but their usual response is, "But we'll get rich faster than you science bitches."

Damn.  Are you allowed to rescind credit after you've requested for advanced standing?

@Gloamglozer, yeah it's fine to rescind credit after you get it, the only thing is if you decide later on that you want it back it's not automatic (I took that to mean you have to reapply for it). So after waiting for over an hour today and filling out a 2 minute form, I was told that as long as I'm enrolled in one subject by this friday thats fine.

That's good.  The Student Centres are absolutely hectic right now so the best thing to do is go there is in person and well, be patient.  If you've got it all sorted out and know what's going on then it's all good.  I have some arts friends and they're having an absolute nightmare.

Why were we not even told re-enrolment was extended?
Typical Melbourne University bullshit.

So I went to the student centre today.  First person there.  Went a little something like this.

"Hi I need to enrol in a-"
"Having trouble re-enrolling?"
"Yes because one of my subjects says-"
"No, here, go to this form and fill it out on a library computer and send it in and don't come back here afterwards there's no need".

Because I got up at 6am for you to sit there, when you have no other people to deal with, and not help me do things in a timely manner.
If I had known to download a form there would have been no reason for me to leave the house.
My friend went there for the same problem yesterday, was sat down to speak with someone who manually enrolled her in and approved all of her subjects.
But me?  I get turned away within two minutes at 8:59am (y)

This is why I hate Arts.

Yeah that sucks :( It's the same with Eastern Precinct. If you are lucky, you'll get someone who does everything quickly otherwise they would turn you away. That's why I try to avoid the Student Centre :P
