I said when the chromosomes fused, it allowed more genes to be held on a single chromosome, therefore the more complex an organism becomes the need for more genes for gene expression. Pretty much took a guess though.
This was my guess!

Its a bio exam though... last year you needed like 76.xx% roughly for an A+ ... well bare minimum over the threshold for A+ but still an A+

I was talking to some mates after the exam and we came to agree that it was founder population. Personally I was stumped, kicking myself for such an easy mark and wrote founder effect.

LOL i wrote "immigrants" had no clue
I wrote founder group/ founder population
i wrote allopatric species rofl ><

I wrote founding population also.

Was it just me, or was the speciation question also a genetic drift question, because the population was small.

I made a little footnote of this at the bottom, as it is possible that the founding population was not representative of the original population.

yeah i wrote 'founders'
sounded ridiculous but i couldn't imagine what else to write ahah

and yeah it was genetic drift, i specified how the new population would've originally had a different allele frequency/ decreased genetic variability, besides that it was just speciation.

I think founders is fine...

And stonecold, agree, it was speciation/drift.

Just on the gorilla/aus one - I found the wording funny (it didn't really ask you to say which was which. What do you think it was asking for?

Very fair exam though.
