mine was violin :)
where i was i had the possibility of two rooms - a really big one with amazing acoustics, and a smaller carpeted one that was fairly crappy acoustically, i got the small one.
despite that i feel it was okay - but i definitely agree that you can never tell with music. and i'm not sure how many mistakes/tuning issues they allow before deducting a crapload of marks
i think solo will be my lowest subject though. fingers crossed for 30 i reckon :S

Yeah, music's one of those really subjective subjects unfortunately >_<

There's still the writing component to go though!

25%, meh. the biggest and scariest component is done.
i usually get all the theory right except chord progressions yuck. and the analysis will be fine coz i'm a styles kid :)

oh lucky!! im nervous most about the writing! cause they really dont give us much time at all
im hoping to make up for it in the theory and aural... cept melodic can go a bit wacky for me sometimes... sometimes im just completely swicthed off!

I've been completely unmotivated for music. It just wasn't what I thought it would be, and I'm kind of burnt out anyway by this stage. I did my year 12 over two years, which means that I did two subjects last year and two subjects this year (with one 3/4 subject done in year 11). It seemed like a really good idea at the time, especially because I did alright in my subjects (39 for English and 42 for Psychology... not overly bad).

Having to come back this year has been really hard for me and I've felt all year like I just wanted to get on with my life. I don't plan to go to University for at least a couple of years so I'm not too concerned about my ENTER (or is it ATAR these days?). I haven't done anything more than the "due by Monday" type homework for music and haven't studied in my spare time at all. I can do aural recognition of intervals flawlessly but that's it. My understanding of theory is almost nill, though I think I can scrounge a few marks from each question.

What percentage of the mark is this written exam? From what xoxogossipgirl is saying it's only 25%, but is that for solo or group (or both)?. Could it really be that small? I think the performance exam went well, so if that's a bigger percentage then my study score shouldn't be too bad.

Ahhhhh, although I'm in damage control at the moment, it's so liberating to know that tomorrow this whole school struggle is finally going to be over! Free at last!

yeah well according to my teacher basically perfomance means all
ur written and sac marks are kinda scaled accordingly depending on how well you go on the performance part

so you sound like you should be fine... if you aced the performance then thats the most important thing!

btw whats ur instrument?? :)

Hahah I hope it's allowed! They did seem a bit confused (had to clarify a couple of times) but they let me do it. I'm fairly sure you definitely can't do it for solo though.

I've been playing guitar for a few years now (3 or 4). I had 6 months of lessons when I was 10 or so, then I had another 3 or 4 months when I was 14. We put a keyboard on layby but I quit shortly after that. We still had to buy the keyboard though, so it has been sitting around the house unused till I discovered Ben Folds late last year and started working out a few of his songs. I was so bad at the start of the year :P

So I can play a few Ben Folds songs, but I quiver in fear before those who can play the classical stuff some of you have been talking about  ;D!
