Am I the only one that's having nightmares about matrices?

Word on the grapevine (and VCAA) is that matrices will be ridiculously difficult this year. The hardest question I've come across in all the VCAA exams is that one in 2008 about the birds migrating etc (I think the solution required algebraic solving) but even that wasn't overly difficult.

Just wondering, what could possibly be the hardest thing to ask in matrices? I've seen some NEAP exams where there are negative values in a transition matrix! And I had no idea how to do it. Would VCAA put those kind of questions in the exam on Monday?

Well think about it, half the students doing further are spuds, most of the people doing matrices are obviously the 'stronger' students. VCAA have to account for the less capable students who may be doing matrices because their school is doing it. Now they can only make the exam 'that' difficult...
Exam 1 shouldnt be too difficult not much they can do there.
Exam 2 there will be questions similar to what they have had before but probably just more complex, they can only ask so much with the limitations of the matrices course. Maybe they might adjust the study design after this period is finished...
Also i cant see them putting a negative value in a transition matrix. That is way over the top! I have not seen that before and i didnt even know they could exist.
Anyway expect the unexpected, but you will have a fair idea of what kind of questions they will ask.

I HAD nightmares initially when I researched through the Examination report, noticing excellent scores by the Matrices kids in 2009. However, as 'onerealsmartass' said, they have to account for the less capable - Mathematically. They'd try to make it 'tricky', knowing VCAA and what they've done in other subjects (such as Methods CAS Exam 2 etc).

Otherwise, look I have spamed as many old VCAA and other company exams for all thats available and as some members have mentioned in other posts exams such as Neap 2007 or Insight 2006/2007 Matrices is hard as it can get - And mind you, it's not hard as in 'difficult', rather it's hard in the sense of more time consuming than what you'd expect with the Matrices section!

So weighing that up, and considering the impact of a crazy tough exam on some students might stuff up the bell curve, I am sure they would not make it crazy.

fml i neglected networks at school to do matrices because it was easy. VCAA better not make it hard.

they will make it full of tricks... vcaa are bloody sneaky, they will try to separate the best from the good students doing matrices. The matrice quesitons will probably be longer content wise.
However lets hope for the best! It shouldnt be particularly hard just time consuming

Is spamming NEAP today for the off chance of a "here is a 3x3 matrix which half page of info is best?" question...advisable?
