i got told as long as it is legible, it shouldn't matter, because examiners generally get quite good at messy handwriting. also, if you have messy handwriting i've had several teachers tell me to write with big letters so it is at least easy to read. something to consider...

One of my mates gets to use a computer because he has shit handwriting.

No mental disability, no hand-eye co-ordination impairment, no hand injuries, no religious ceremonies which don't allow him to use pens on that specific day. Just straight up messy handwriting.

He's gotten A+ on all his typed up SACS, and A and Bs on his handwritten SACs.

Fair? Definitely not. But I think that is a rough indication of the impact of handwriting. (I refuse to acknowledge that his typed up pieces may have been better quality).

Also, they don't use notepad as I had thought. Microsoft word, thesaurus, spell-check, paperclip helping dude and all ! :(

Also fancy nice titles!

Not fair, sorry I just have to have a whinge about it!

We had a kid with cerebral palsy (I think? definitely a hand-eye coordination problem) a few years ago who used a computer for exams. Not vce exams though, just, like, year 10-11. he used notepad...

I broke my writing hand like a week before the exam playing footy.

And yeah, i was expecting to have to use notpad or something, but nup, i was seated up the back by myself with a laptop with word open, the exam guy also offered to sit with me and colour in my multi choice sheet but i just did it with my other hand.

Yeah, our exam poeple are a bunch of oldies who have no clue, so i probably could have used the internet but i didnt really feel the need to, and i thought i was already at an advantage being able to write half a page for a 3 mark question with only 5 lines available :P

Haha that sucks.

Score with the typing though, so much better.. Especially if you can type fast =P

I wonder what they'd do for maths... It's not like they're gonna make you try and do that on word.

Yeah.. but how many people know latex? And how many even here could confidently use it for assessment?

Wait, I just realised that with a broken hand you won't be typing very fast .. xD

you probably get extra time.
A kid just this year has been getting special attention for all his exams. He got an extra 20 minutes writing time and a 15 minute food break in the english exam. He also gets 15 minutes more writing time for all his other exams.

For maths, i'd assume they'd set you up with a guy that you could dictate to or something.... they were planning on doing that for me with biol, but i just figured i'd be better off typing with one hand and my index finger on my broken hand.

VCAA are pretty generous when it comes to this stuff.
