A good teacher is one who is passionate about their subject area and is VERY willing to help their students...no matter how long it takes!!!

Oh yeah..a good teacher has to approachable...and especially NON JUDGEMENTAL....

I have a fave teacher who fitted that criteria...He is simply the coolest!! He is my mentor and friend!

Do you prefer teachers who you can easily get along with, or teachers who can just explain things better?

I also think that it's quite important for the teacher to understand the different learning styles of students, and be able to communicate with students, there's no point in knowing the content, and not being able to explain it to the students. A teacher also needs to understand the different cultures their students come from.

Someone who helps maintain students' intrest in the key issues when it wavers

In a really good students class, the "average" students in terms of ability and initiative do comparatively much better than if the teacher was average or poor.

My favourite teachers were always the ones who went beyond just teaching and offered a great deal of support and so on.

Student Tests – and Teacher Grades

My parents seem to judge teachers according to that way...how the students perform...

If students performance is low =  teacher is crap
if student performance is high = teacher is good..

Meh...I think its both the students and teachers fault...up to some extent...
Maybe it depends on each case...
