if you wrote +c on the antidif of cos(2x) eg 1/2*sin(2x)+c is that wrong?

sorry meant cos(2x+1) = 1/2*(2x+1)+c

It asked for AN antidif.. therefore C can be any real value.. I'm pretty sure you weren't meant to write '+C' :S

You're allowed to write +C, it is still an antiderivative.. as is +2432365.
And if you didn't write +C, that just means you let C = 0

OH phew thanks :) i was shitting bricks if i would lose the mark for having that cause itute just has 1/2*sin(2x+1)

But the letter 'C' itself is not a number.. i think if you wrote '+ C' you'd have to follow through with "C is a constant" or something along those lines.

Hmm, I didn't think that leaving the c would be considered as an antiderivative, isn't it then like a direction slope field?

Ive done practice exams where they say 'an anti-derivative' but in the answers they have a +c... cbf finding the exact
papers but anyone come across that?

denotes a FAMILY of functions - it is not singular.

When it says AN antiderivative, it is asking for only one.

Thus you needed to have something there instead of the C.

But I'm not exactly sure how VCAA will mark this, I heard from somebody that even some assessment reports still have the "+C" for AN antiderivative...

I was tempted to put +42 on the "an antiderivative" question today, but I was too spineless. Might have got an extra mark if the examiner was a Hitchhikers Guide fan.  :P

On the 2009 exam they asked for "an antiderivative" and didn't have +c in the answer.
