Haven't touched exams yet. Fully memorizing all the sources of energy and energy transformations as well as my sulfuric acid shizz. After im confident with what i know, then i'll tackle exams, otherwise, I'm simply burning exams.

i dont understand this.
because what you need to know for this really shouldn't take longer then 30min to learn it all, we barely even have to know much from this area..

30 mins is about two study days for chem >.<

haha, at least you are getting something done :D
i've probably averaged about an hour over the last week =x

we have all tues&weds so its fine :)

Personally because of school I've already done ~10-12 papers all before during and just after the holidays.. Bad idea, I've forgotten basically everything I'd learnt from doing them. It will all come back to me as I restart exams, but it is a little wasteful in terms of time. But then again I haven't really had the time required to do them in the past few weeks..

I would recommend you DON'T do papers piece-by-piece, it eliminates valuable exam technique practice..

Yeah, I'm feeling roughly the same :L
Did about 20 exams even before school finished because I wanted to do well in chem. Took a two week break during exam period for other subjects and forgot everything I learnt from those exams :L

Anyways, up to about 100/160 files completed, once I'm done with those, time to move onto old unit three exams

They're getting really repetitive now and I'm finding myself surfing youtube/doing weights between each question just to keep myself motivated :L

My teacher says to use KOHE where K=key element eg carbon nitrogen ect O=oxygen H=hydrogen and E=electrons so first balance it out by adding water then balance out by add H+ ions then finally by adding e- just be sure that charge for both sides is equal.
Also another just remember that oxidation half equation has e- on right side and reduction half equation has e- on left side of equation. I find the KOHE tricky though.

xD I had this problem on Wed-Fri and so I just stopped doing prac exams altogether. Didn't really see the point of spamming them anymore if I was going to have this kind of mentality for practice exams, because it's not the mindset you want for the actual exam.

i also felt really prepared around end of term 3 and then did a lot of revision after then...
now, nothing since the end of school until today and just realizing i've forgotten everything and am really rusty at calculations and everything.
too out of energy from other exams to cram as effectively either, eeeeeeh.

Also I find if I know the answer to a question i don't even bother calculating or answering it fully.

Like a question will say weak acid HOBr has concentration 0.5 M find pH

Im like gah -log(sqrt(0.5*cosntant))) saves time.

Also, writing out explanations to questions like "why can't Mg2+ make Mg in aqueous solutions when electrolyed" i just write H20 Pref red (Water preferentially reduced). When I check the exam I'll see if it corresponds to what i've said. This way you can get through exams really fast and see if you know everything. No sense writing out everything... if you need that kinda of help, well, thats for humanities.

Or for more calculation explantion thingys, like "why does nuclear fission result in more energy per gram compared to coal burning?" I'll say

related to E = mc^2

and draw up arrows to show increase in mass means HUGE ARROW UP in energy because c^2 = HUGE NUMBER

That's pretty clever of you to skip the calculation steps but wouldn't you lose marks for that?

What about maths? You just write it all out cause it's short anyway? Or outline your method?

because its short I usually write it out. If its long, laborious and pointless (find tan(pi/8) using double angle formula!!!.... fudge off tan quadratic equation) then meh, i'll state where I was going with it and be done with it.
