Australian National University!

Does anyone know what its like?
And any information on:

How to apply
Scholarships
Entry requirements
Prestige
ETC

Im seriously considering moving interstate for my University years if Melbourne and Monash refuse to except me purely because of one mark in methods. Its really irritated me.

I think it's pretty good? You have to apply individually though... like VTAC doesn't take applications for unis interstate (that's all I know >.<)

It's pretty good, ranks just as highly as Melb and higher than Monash. Don't be fooled by the low ENTER requirement, loooooads of people fail at commerce/finance/economics courses at ANU. They definitely don't make it easy...

You have to apply through UAC instead of VTAC, which just means one more form to fill out. So you get offers from both NSW/ACT unis as well as Vic unis if you apply for both states.

Full academic scholarships (= National Undergraduate Scholarships) give you $10,000 a year at ANU, but you need around 99.60+ to be offered one. The school of business and economics at ANU also offers $2000 scholarships (my friend who went to Wesley has one) but you still need to achieve pretty highly (95+ at the very least). A lot of people have Centrelink in order to pay their accommodation fees.

Entry is just an ENTER of 75, probably at least 25 in English too, though I'm not sure. You will have to do a bit of maths at uni though; a lot of people who've done no calculus before fail.

Erm well I think that's about it. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions ANU or BComm wise, I have plenty of friends here who do that degree.

costargh, why does it irritate you that Melbourne or Monash would reject you based on 1 point? Lets all bend the rules for you when countless people have probably missed out on their desired course on the basis of a few points. Rules are rules regardless.

Erm... rules are rules but does that mean I have to agree with them? No.
Just because those rules exist doesnt mean I can't be irritated.

Melbourne and Monash will not even consider your application if you have not successfully completed the required prerequisite studies to an acceptable level.  In the eyes of Melbourne & Monash, you have not completed the prerequisite subject (regardless of the fact that it was by 1 point), which means you cannot partake in their course.

Peh, ANU is better than Melbourne and Monash combined.

*ducks*

With scholarships, some residential colleges give them out based on either need or merit. Otherwise, the university gives out a few academic and equity scholarships, all of which you just apply online for.
