This is the same as a solar panel yes? So a disadvantage would be the amount of land needed to make this efficient?

A distadvantage would be the affect of the climate on their function. In cloudy days they won't be as efficient.

Yeahh as well as inefficient transfer of light to electrical energy.

A distadvantage would be the affect of the climate on their function. In cloudy days they won't be as efficient.

I remember that from the textbook, almost exactly.

I tried to rephrase it into my own words.

its those solar panels that you install at the top o' your roof. photovoltaics = photoelectric effect. when light of sufficient frequency is shined upon the cathode (or the blue area), it ionises e-. that flow of e- is your current, and thus generates electricity

Also doesn't the location you in affect it? if there's much sunshine and stuff.

also the thing has to be installed on a good angle facing the sun, which might not be possible all the time.

yep, it wouldn't work in antarctica.

physics! i love how the two subjects intertwine.
