Complete 2010 VCAA Exam + Suggested Solutions

Okay, here are my suggested solutions everyone.

I managed to grab a copy of the exam because I went to school today in the afternoon. I just asked one of my teachers.

The reason why I've been silent on this thread today is because I have been busy doing the answers and did not want to put pressure on myself to finish them quickly, or give you a sense of anticipation. I'm sure you are grateful for that, maybe you all had some time to study for your other exams :)

And a thank you to Vadnal, I stole one of his answers to the "compare and contrast" question.

Thoughts on your exam - it was actually quite fair apart from a few shocking questions. I liked its overall style, but there were some stupidities that really detract from how quality it could have been. I think the decathlon question was the best on the exam. Anyway, my observations and frustrations are vented within the suggested answers.

Here is the link to download the exam: https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B_7J49uenfR3N2JjMDBlMGEtMTU3Ni00YmVhLTk0ODQtYjdmNjM3ZjBhYTcw&hl=en&authkey=CIbfklU

So enjoy, they are quite detailed in most areas. Of course, there may be mistakes so please bring any up and we can sort out any issues.

:D

Reading those make me feel a lot more confident in what my final result might be. Could maybe question a few but nothing major. You doing a sports course at all?

I love all of you too, because you're PE students :)

Question my answers now if you like, happy to discuss :) I got 43, but don't use that to judge me :)

I will be doing PE next year. I am also a qualified fitness instructor.

all seems quite good to me.

However!
Q8 b) the last event on those days should be the ones that require the most rest afterwards, or else they will hinder performance on the other events done, so this should be the 400m event for day 1 and 1500m for day 2, quite sure this is correct considering they both build up H+ ions that inhibit muscular contractions, so should have rest afterwards (longest break) or else they will interfere..
the ones you said use PC stores that recover withn 3 minutes, so clearly wont be the last for the day..

thoughts?

a) Do you think flexibility could be a fitness component for the rock climbing question? As in the picture the persons back is bent and leg extended

b) I agree with vexx that shouldn't the 400m and 1500m be the last events for the day as they require the most recovery time

i would say yes to flexibility as well.

and good to see that Lex agrees with balance!

Yes I definitely think your reasoning is somewhat valid for 8b, especially for day two. But there is also the idea that the most demanding exercises should be completed first. But yeah I am not sure on this one as I said in the report, if enough people think otherwise then I suppose we have some sort of an answer :)

It would seem silly to do the most demanding first, because then you would be messed up for the rest of the day and hence would not be as accurate, rather doing the easier events first (ones using PC) can have adequate recovery, so all the events are without consequences (such as H+ ions) from others. hmm interested to see what others did then..?

Multiple choice:
question 2 is C 100%
question 4 is C: your answer is incorrect. the LIP is not due to an increased ability to clear lactate. it is due to H ion ACCUMULATION
Everything else is spot on.

With question 2 on multiple choice, I said decrease in muscle glycogen stores and increase in blood lactate, why is that wrong?

By the way, thanks for the upload! :)
