Haha uni exams must be tough. I always thought uni life would be carefree but doesn't seem so much like it haha! What about pharmacy/commerce? Is the cut off higher than just pharmacy ? Is it worth doing ?

well they are different... they are quite doable if you study hard enough heh...
oh yeah uni life is carefree because they don't care whether you hand in something or not...maybe they do but they don't push you, they'll just say you have this due next week, thats it.

mid 97s, its not really worth doing coz most of  career outcomes are satisified from courses like science/comm,biomed/comm plain comm.... there is also no good prospects for owning your own pharmacy, unless u are going rural since its too difficult to own one. however u can use a commerce as a backup career if u hate pharmacy... so yea

lol "actual knowledge" like the knowledge in vce was rubbish haha... maybe i agree... :P na just outdated...

yeah i know someone from work who is doing 4th year pharmacy...or end of 4th year... and she wants to move to a hospital setting instead of retail because you learn more stuff and yeah its more engaging i guess with the personalised treatments etc...

If I put down the pharm/comm double degree but after completing the pharm part and do not wish to continue with the comm part, can I just drop it without any consequences? (don't have to pay any significant fees etc.)

Zero consequence! Heaps of people plan to drop it/have dropped it (as we're told).

no fees, unless you put in your application late or something which might incur a late fee... but thats about it.. u can always choose to defer the commerce part for a year and then drop afterwards since u get time to think about it

Oh nice, they stretched it out for you guys this year. We're done next Tuesday. Last year we finished on the 6th of November and I think it was the first week of exams. Having them all packed together was bollocks.

And is it true that you don't need comm to open your own pharmacy? I think what mystikal just said above implies that comm is needed :S

No, you only need a pharmacy degree to own a pharmacy.

Do commerce just for your personal interest, or to go into a field of commerce you know you like. The jobs combining both pharmacy and commerce are less defined, so you won't know what you're getting yourself into until it comes around.

ooops sorry.. i didnt mean to imply that... u dont need a commerce degree to own one , the commerce may give u more skills but u dont need it to open one up, but the commerce degree also can lead to other pathways as well so yea. my bad.

yep coz u can do a 1 year further study in masters as i mentioned before.. so u dont have to make your decision straight away... even though we do sciency stuff its not really intergrated towards the industrial/techincal parts of actually making chemicals/products like cosmetics and other stuff.. thats more chemical engineering/pharmaceutical science area... however if u are interested in it afterwards just do the masters after your pharmacy degree... its only 1 year if im correct... or 2 ...
