I prefer typing - it makes it easier to edit them afterwards, and my handwriting is atrocious so it's neater.

I write notes by hand but I don't do it with the intent to read over them. I just write them because getting the stuff that's in my head onto paper helps to cement it there.

I wrote way less notes in VCE than currently, but only ever by hand. PC notes just don't work for me, I can't do neat diagrams etc.

for Accounting, which is relatively theory-heavy with definitions, I do the exercises before class, write my notes during class and before a test/outcome/SAC I type my notes up as a last 'refreshment' of the chapters

I just do both. I'm comfortable with handwriting or typing up my notes.

Generally, I tend to hand-write my notes, though when I can't be bothered I type them up. Either way is good.

I prefer to type, keeps it clean and can be easily edited, rather than scribbling out unneeded stuff.
And, you can print multiple copies :)

It's not just that making notes is cumbersome for mathematicians-to-be (ie. lazy kids), but overall notes for math where you simply write out the 'theory' (like what's in the textbooks) are useless. What you should do instead is understand the fundamentals properly, prove things for yourself rather than just accepting them as fact and attempting to memorise them. If you understand something well enough to prove it from basics, chances are you won't forget it, and even if you do you can derive it from first principles(lol okay not always first principles, but a much more basic level).

IMO, notes are a pain.  Handwritten are just messy, and computerised take forever, and it is hard to add diagrams.

Unless you feel that notes are helping you to learn, which they do for some people, but not really me, then I wouldn't waste my time.  Not for VCE anyway.

Moreover, if you are going to make notes, focus on weak areas that you are unsure of.  There is absolutely no point writing out stuff that you already know.  It is a form of procrastination.

Make a list of little details and errors, this will be far more valuable come exam time.

I highlight but not my handwritten ones, just something which is typed up.

Teevo: If nothing is clicking, then just read the textbook/whatever your using to make the notes out loud, then  try writing what you remember..do it multiple times ( reading ) until you understand properly, don't worry it's going to be hard at the start but it will work at the end..

If not, try typing it up. As people have said, the advantage to typing is that it is readible (if your own hand-writing is hard to read) and you can make multiple copies of it. Don't write large chucks of notes, rather in small dot points - break down the key concepts of what you're learning - that way, it will be easier to read and your notes will be condensed.

Moreover, if you are going to make notes, focus on weak areas that you are unsure of.  There is absolutely no point writing out stuff that you already know.  It is a form of procrastination.

Make a list of little details and errors, this will be far more valuable come exam time.

Seconded.
