advice pls.

Okay so i need some insight to the different uni courses that are available and the requirements to get into them.
My subjects will be English, Spesh, Methods, Chem, Jap SL, Bio and Further after i finish vce.
I think these will satisfy the courses which i have a intrest in, these include:
-Dentistry
-Med
-Biomed
-Science
-Pharmacy
In general my desired course would be in the science/med field but i am not entirely sold on any course.
Are there any other courses that you think would intrest me that i havent listed? And also i would greatly appreaciate it if you could give me the requirements for these courses, ie enter and umat wise and anything else that is relevant.
Thanks in advance :)

Science is pretty general and really the foundation of other degrees. What you should do is consider the other courses first, and if none of them really do interest you, then go on with straight Science. It will be kind of a backup option, unless the exact job outcome you want requires a science degree, such as researcher or something that requires postgrad
Religion and Society (38), IT - Software Development (45) English (35), Chemistry (49), Methods CAS (48), Specialist Maths (50)
ENTER: 99.15

2010 - Bachelor of Science(Maths)/Engineering(Chemical) - Monash Clayton

ah yeah you have plenty of time

ull probably be changing ur mind quite a few times before you make your decision

but if you like to work and operate on teeth do dentistry
if you like to work as a doctor or in hospital do med
if you want to do research or industry or other things. do biomed or science
if you want to give drugs to people do pharm
if you want to do research or work in hospital or something do do with psychology and the brain do behavioural neuroscience
if you want to work in research or industry or making stuff + other jobs listed on the link do biotech
if you want to work in hospital doing ct scans and mri do radiography
if you want to work in a dentist setting maybe doing less things then proper dentistry than do oral health

haha those are MASS generalisations but yeah just do whatever you want you have like a year to figure it out

That's actually one of the first things they mention to you in pharm. Patients perceive the word "drugs" as bad so they prefer you not use it. You also aren't supposed to say "that person is diabetic" (labelling someone as diseased) rather they prefer "the person with diabetes" (they have the disease, but you're treating them as an individual) ... don't actually know how many people follow up with this word play stuff in practice. </learning>

Oh yeah forgot to help out. Anyway there are three pharmacy schools in Victoria as of next year with Monash being the oldest school and RMIT just opening up in 2011.

Monash Pharmacy (Parkville) - ENTER + needs UMAT, no interview
http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/2011handbooks/courses/2628.html
LaTrobe Pharmacy (Bendigoalongway) - ENTER + interview(?) + form ... read app process
http://www.latrobe.edu.au/pharmacy/pharminfo.html
and the new one everyone is talking about,
RMIT Pharmacy (Bundoora) - read application process, I think there's a form
http://www.rmit.edu.au/medicalsciences/pharmacy

To become a dentist
LaTrobe is the only undergraduate entry dental school in Victoria now.
http://www.latrobe.edu.au/oral-health/dentistry.html

Melbourne is Graduate entry, that is you need a degree and prereqs: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).

UMAT
One thing you must do for most of the health courses (with some exception) is sit the UMAT.
http://umat.acer.edu.au/

If you really want a particular course badly, remember to look at interstate universities. Especially for competitive courses like medicine and dentistry.
