Psych 2011: Mid year study?

When's the best period prior to the examination, to start hardcore studying?
Is it 2 weeks or should I start really early? Since alot of people do it, I really want a good knowledge of the entire course inside and out to ace my midyear

If you want to ace it two weeks will not be enough time. There's a lot of people who started months in advance.

I started my exam prep for the mid year mid april so 1.5 months before hand. There's just so much to learn and so many practice exams to get done that you really do need to devote that much time.

I started the week before the exam for midyear and I wouldn't recommend that!
Start fairly early, April like shilayli said is good, but not too early and don't study too hard at the start or you'll burn out.

I'll be beginning early June early May.
There are not "that" many practice exams as we have a new study design...
...especially when it comes to Unit 4...no past exam questions for AOS:2 'Mental Health.'

EDIT: Mistook the exam time; credit goes to shilayli06 for correcting.

Probably should just go through the book and learn every concept back to front. They won't chuck us a random question that has NOTHING to do with the content from the year, even if it's an essay. And since I'm alright at English, I know I'll be fine. Besides, psych is rote learning... you just need to make sure you can regurgitate everything, and make sure you put it in a concise definitive sentence to prepare yourself for an essay..

Since it is your only 3/4, im assuming. Try and get ahead during the summer holidays, e.g 4 hours a week. That should give you a giant headstart which would allow you to prepare for the midyear few months before june

If you want 47+ I can't see how you could get that with only a week and a half prep for the mid year. Psych is so competitive people would have started much earlier and hence will probably know more and do better on the exam.

There will be the sample exam, + the 2011 exams for STAV, Trials for teachers, NEAP, INSIGHT, TSSM, CSE. So there's quite a lot to do. And you won't get through it all if you start in june. It's the truth. You could wing it. But I doubt you'd want to do that and not many people can wing 47+. Start in mid may at least! Otherwise you're doing yourself a disservice.

Hold it. Thought the exam was Mid-July. Obviously was mistaken and judging by your post its Mid-June. Therefore I realign timing to starting Early May. Lol I'm no natural, I'm not going to pull a 47 with a week of preparation :P

Yep, early may is good. And yes, the mid year is roughly 9th of June.

Yeah bro I need this 47...Psychology has to be a part of my primary 4 :)
On a total random note...I hope most of VN Psych students get the same detailed study for Unit 4 {depression/gambling/schizophrenia}. We'll find out by the end of the year...I think. My preference goes to Schizophrenia. Don't mind depression. Will dislike gambling.

I need 48+ THIS YEAR. I'm basically in the same boat as you but fast track a year.

Hmmm. That's so weird how gambling is a detailed study. WTF. December 13th will let me know whether or not I'll be learning the new psych study design haha.

I think it's referring gambling as a form of addition disorder, which is an interesting topic in itself.

It's really a case of writing your notes as soon as possible (don't just use other people's notes), study them whenever you have time (eg. on the bus or train). Once you're confident you can go through everything without referring to notes, begin the VCAA exams. Make sure you refer to the examiner reports, and learn Roger Edwards' (chief examiner) definitions off by heart

except for Visual Perception, you guys aren't doing that (and missing out, it was so interesting!)
